shalwar kameez can look very smart, and is comfortable, with many and varied designs.

or those loose fitting eastern style trousers, with cuff at the ankle.

today i was wearing some long shorts that came below the knee, and were very comfortable.
they are quite loose so kind of float and swish when walking, which creates pleasant cooling breeze in hot weather.
maybe you should combine those with high SPF suncream over the scars. as that area will be very vulnerabe to sun damage.
good luck.

Depends on how smart you need to be. If casual then some jersey joggers (try Next) or H&M paper bag trousers. I've also got some of these which come to mid-calf on me but I like to wear them a bit looser than pictured so I sized up.

I have a new scar of my face which I need to keep covered now and I use silicone scar sheets to cover it (you can cut to size and they're reusable). It would offer a layer of protection if you wanted to wear shorts or were worried about trousers rubbing. Or could you use something like a lightweight tubigrip/knee support?

I too was going to suggest loose, linen trousers and 3/4 capris. I wear a knee brace due to arthritis and need loose trousers to fit over it. I got mine from asda last year which still look good and very cool.

Maxi skirt? Maybe a light loose jumpsuit for a bit of variety

I’d probably get some linen trousers and cargo trousers. You could get some long ones and some cropped ones, for variety.

I usually spend the summer in long shorts. I had a knee operation and have a long scar running over the top of my knee, one down the side and one about 10cm below my knee. I need to protect them from the sun. I haven't been able to wear jeans since the op as it's too rough and tight on the scar tissue so that rules out my one pair of shorts that comes over the knee. What are my options?
