LadyofWaffle Wed 19-Sep-07 21:36:22 931&parent_category_rn=42344&productId=406941&langId=-1 - it is for a school reunion, we are going out to a nightclub but I want to wear something other than jeans + nice top. I am at the moment a size 16/18, but know topshop will be a small 16 so will lose weight, so will look abit different from my profile pic. I saw someone my size in strapless, and though it looked flattering but am not totally sure whether I'll look ok in it... please advise me style gurus!

It's a pretty colour, but you would need some serious supportage I think

moljam Wed 19-Sep-07 21:38:16

i like it.cant see your profile pic.what shoes with it?

brimfull Wed 19-Sep-07 21:39:13

no profile pic

I like it.

HAve you got good shoulders and arms?

rantinghousewife Wed 19-Sep-07 21:39:29

Think it would depend how you are in the shoulder dept, tbh. Toned, yes, bingo wings, no.

LadyofWaffle Wed 19-Sep-07 21:41:07

oh buggeroo, on my other screen name - I am Quootiepie if you can look up profile or, i'll go change my name so you can click on me. I thought black peep toes? Or my old faithfuls - a black pair, think they may be called Mary Janes or something? I do have a great black strapless bra that is pretty supportive... let me go change my name so you can have a good ol' nose at me. BTW my hair will be dyed chocolate brown and probably have some side fringy style thingy done soon, not the brown/gold natural colour in the pic.

LadyofWaffle Wed 19-Sep-07 21:41:27

I have OK shoulders, fatty arms.

ohsotired Wed 19-Sep-07 21:42:20

Like the dress, will wait for your name change!

NDPIsProbablyGoingToHell Wed 19-Sep-07 21:43:22

tarty imo. Too much flesh on display

Quootiepie Wed 19-Sep-07 21:43:27

Here I am...

See, being fat of arms watching that what not to wear programme they said don't get short sleeves, so it'll have to be 1/4 way down my arm at least otherwise and I am really pants at finding clothes.

oliveoil Wed 19-Sep-07 21:44:00

with that dress you need to have thin arms and good shoulder definition

topshop will have far better dresses imo

size 16/18 you say? will have a peruse

Quootiepie Wed 19-Sep-07 21:44:06

tarty shock Oh deary! I wonder how short it is... I presumed it was about knee ish length.

morningpaper Wed 19-Sep-07 21:44:33

I like the colour but not the style

halterneck might be nicer?

you need a BRA woman

ohsotired Wed 19-Sep-07 21:44:56

to be totally honest I don't think it will suit your shape

morningpaper Wed 19-Sep-07 21:45:15

yes listen to olive

she will rescue you

MyTwoDoubloonsWorth Wed 19-Sep-07 21:45:17

I don't like it at all.

And since you say you've got meaty arms - I would have to advise against.

Actually, I'd advise against regardless.

I really don't like that dress.

[guilty] but you did ask.

Quootiepie Wed 19-Sep-07 21:45:44

O, I don't have the pic I thought up - I have lost weight since that picture!

oliveoil Wed 19-Sep-07 21:45:55

you need arms in the dress imo kind of like this

missbumpy Wed 19-Sep-07 21:46:01

I like the dress but I agree with other posters that you need to have skinny/toned upper body to work the strapless look. I haven't seen your picture BTW, I'm just going on what you've said

At the end of the day, it's down to what you like. If you feel good wearing it then go for it! I personally love strapless numbers.

paolosgirl Wed 19-Sep-07 21:46:14

Honestly - and I hate to say this - I think it looks a bit <whispers, before running away and hiding> chavvy. SORRY SORRY SORRY.

rantinghousewife Wed 19-Sep-07 21:46:54

You want honest, that dress reminds me a bit of Abbi Titmuss, don't really like it

NDPIsProbablyGoingToHell Wed 19-Sep-07 21:46:59

coplour gorgeous though. Especially good on dark hair/eyes

oliveoil Wed 19-Sep-07 21:47:07

and that dress will waft over any bulges (which I also have at size 12 due to belly I can't be arsed dealing with)

paolosgirl Wed 19-Sep-07 21:47:08

But like the dress oliveoil posted smile
