Does anyone where a human hair wig??

If so, where did you get it from please?

After years of extensions, I’m considering getting a very good, realistic wig (like the one celebs wear) for nights out etc.

I can’t seem to find any companies or anything that do them (reputable ones I mean)

Following as I’m also considering this!

Yes I do. Check out freedom couture. They’re based in Australia and have great quality wigs. However they’re pricy. It’s cheaper to buy decent virgin/remy bundles And a frontal/closure and have them made into a wig for you. That way you can probably have about three custom made ones for the price of one freedom couture one. Alipearl and unice have great quality hair

Maybe ask MN to change your title to either "wear" a wig, or "where" to find one.

Oh god yes, one glass of Prosecco down and grammar and spelling go out the window 🙈

Is there a reason why you wouldn't just grow your hair higlandspring? (And endorphins)

Tabitha I'm assuming you have a health condition that affects your hair, as you're obviously an expert!

Where would a reputable company get human hair from?

Report
GunungBatur · 16/05/2020 17:23

They buy it from teenagers/young women in eastern Europe mainly, and Asia. Also, the little princess trust has a lot of hair donated and they give that to companies as payment for wigs.

My hair is long but it’s just so thin, I use extensions for thickness. I’m never going to change the volume of my hair. Also, extensions are damaging my hair and making it thinner I think so if I could wear a wig for nights out for a couple of years (I don’t style my hair during the week it’s just at weekends when I have social plans) it might help my own hair recover

No @GunungBatur I don’t have a health condition Hmm I enjoy wearing wigs as do many others without health conditions. I’ve been wearing them for years

Ah, I see. Really bad news that the extensions cause so much damage.

@HighlandSpring101if your hair is thin I definitely recxonens Jamaican black castor oil. My hair is unbelievably thick now. So much so my hairdresser sighs when she sees me because it’s a lot of work! Use it as a hot oil treatment as it’s very thick and heavy. I’d also stop the extensions soonish as you may develop traction alopecia

I've worn everything going over the years and have found making my own much easier and better. Hand tying them is a lot easier than you would think, just really time consuming.

As a pp said just get a couple of bundles, a closure and a decent wig cap. I prefer ear to ear closures. It works out loads cheaping making your own

Sorry that should say recommend!

Why the Hmm? I had no idea. What is it you like about wearing wigs? Just to change the style? Or the colour?
I have friends that wear them for religious reasons too rather than fashion.

@GunungBatur apologies I thought you were making a dig! I have very thick hair and it’s tiring having to style it on a daily basis. So I have two simple braids and I wear a wig over it. I love being able to have different styles. I can have a bob one day, 22 inches the next. Or I can have black hair on Monday and be a brunette on Tuesday. They offer a lot of versatility and it gives your natural hair a chance to relax

Wow @Tabithha just checked out the cost of those wigs Shock I was prepared to go up to about £500 for a decent one, not sure I could afford £1.5k at the moment (or whatever it is converted) I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on that website though. I might just save up for 6 months or something as they look such good quality!

I used to make my own. There are countless tutorials on YouTube. It takes a good four hours but worth it if you want to save money. I now pay a woman £70 to custom make them for me

Tabitha which black castor oil do you use?

Report
Tabithha · 16/05/2020 17:34

@HighlandSpring101the quality is amazing! However my custom wigs are just as good. As long as your bundles/frontal is good quality then you’re good to go. I don’t think I’d ever spend that much on a wig again tbh. RPG show also have pre made wigs for about £500 so check them out Smile

@cantthinkofanythingwitty I use this one but any brand will do as long as it’s pure black castor oil. The white one doesn’t give great results

Great post. My hair is thinner than it was too (my age) and I’ve been thinking the same thing, although I’ve more been thinking just a good synthetic wig as I can’t afford real hair.
Anyone got any recommendations for that?

I have a hair system as I have alopecia, but with salons shut for the foreseeable I need an urgent alternative!

@Elieza check out the Afro Caribbean hair shops for a good synthetic wig. You can try them on and see what’s a good fit. I imagine they’re closed now but I’ve heard amazon have a few so it might be worth looking on there too?
