Working out dress size by bra size?

Shouldn't this be a fairly reliable way of working out a dress size? Is there some way to convert bra size into UK dress size? It's just that I dont feel I know what on earth size I am. It could vary by three sizes depending. And with online ordering I'd prefer to get it right.
Am I even making sense?!

I don’t think so. And to be honest, it really depends on the shop and the cut of the clothes. Sometimes my boobs fit in a 6, other times I can’t do up a 12.

It might give you a rough guide, but as we are talking dresses, the bra band size, hip size and waist size differences will not be the same for everybody. Height can make a difference too.

Uniqlo has sizing based on body shape. They have some dresses.

Otherwise, I'd suggest that you go by the overall bust measurement.
Some brands and styles are more suitable for curvier shapes.
