Wafty kimonos and such-like...

During lockdown boredom, I am thinking about these things. I've seen a really nice David Nieper silk kimono, which I can imagine wafting round the house in, but it may look better on the slimmer model than me, and I would inevitably spill something on it, about 3 nano-seconds after putting it on. I really like 100 stars stuff also, but am loathe to spend too much on something I intend to slim out of! Or do I just have to suck it up to get a really nice wafty thing that makes me feel good? Any thoughts please? TIA.

I bought a wafty one size kaftan on Amazon last year £15 really cool to wear (would never wear it out though but would answer door in it). It washes well and is dry in about an hour. It is not silk though it is polyester but very cool. I find I get a bit sweaty in silky things.

100 stars are one size, so pretty perfect if you plan to slim down.

I don’t really believe in ‘slimming into’ anymore - it’s generally much better value just to have beautiful things that make you happy that fit you right now, as you are. Life has a habit of not being quite as long as we expect it to be - we’re alive now and that’s actually the only certainty we’ve got.

Thanks all. Like the idea of not having to replace, using 100 stars one size. Good to look at all you have suggested though. Excellent point about having the good stuff now, rather than putting it off until later. I really like the map kimonos in 100 stars, but wonder if I'm better with a more traditional one. Anybody got a stars one and if so, which one please?

I’ve got the cherry blossom and the strawberry on the cream background. I also have a shorter length one (mid thigh) with a moorish/Moroccan style print but I don’t remember what it’s called. A friend of mine has the maps one.

I say go for the one that appeals the most to you! Why does it need to be traditional?

I have four of the short kimonos from One Hundred Stars.
Paris map
Grey lotus
Blue strawberry
Another one, can't remember the colour.

I'm a size 22 and they still look good on me.

There are several I want still....

Good points, thanks. I'm frightened I'll set up an addiction 😁

I have several One Hundred Stars Kimonos, I love them and I do wash them in the machine on a gentle wash.

I have -
Aqua Stork (my first)
Charcoal Stork
Pink Swan
Cherry Blossom
White Parrots

I also have a Charcoal Stork Duster but not keen on the button sleeves and a Green Stork Evening Coat which I love but wish they made them in a larger size as at a 16/18 it is snug and would look better a smidge larger but the kimonos are lovely and floaty and cover up my chunky arms a treat.

Thanks all. I contacted One Hundred stars with a query about the measurements, and unfortunately they didn't get back to me. In the end I've bought this one, after seeing a recommendation for Cyberjammies elsewhere on MN. It came the next day! Long enough, and I really like it. Still have One Hundred Stars on my wishlist, though disappointed in their customer service.
middle aged wafting going on in this

There is a whole other thread about one hundred stars that was going yesterday. There was a post on there about a company called Within Reason where you get 20% off. I ordered one from there as a gift yesterday and it was dispatched to the courier same day.
Re customer services. I think we all have to give companies a bit of a break at the mo as their customer services depts will probably be WFH/skeleton staff.

I think that's true Thinkle but Cyberjammies were more on the ball, so.
