I just want to give myself a bit of colour but don't want the mess and the smell. I hate going to bed feeling yucky and sticky with fake tan in so it there anything that is lighter?

The gradual mousse skinny tan is really good

I found Garnier Summer Body lotion gives me a noticeable colour, I definitely can tell when I stop using it but I’d have to apply it every day after shower to keep it up. Smells like apricots and doesn’t stain.

The Dove one is nice too but for me the result wasn’t as good. I’ve found those lotions to be better at gradual tanning for me then even the ones made by fake tan brands like St Tropez.

Do you exfoliate your ankles and knees etc between applications of the gradual build up one or does that scrub it off?

I can't tell you how good it is yet but I've got Skinny Tans coconut mist on the way, it looks lighter than cream but it does have mixed reviews. I love their gradual tanner.

Isle of paradise tanning drops. Couple of drops in your usual moisturiser. No/not much smell. Only as sticky as the moisturiser you use! Brilliant

The clear st tropes one

@huckleberrychin

To exfoliate daily would be scrubbing it off. I don’t get issues anyway with dry knees/elbows etc, I tend to exfoliate everywhere every week or so, but with the gradual one you wouldn’t get any disasters applying it first time as you would a regular tan anyway. I find with areas like wrists and ankles though you need to be careful applying it as it’s streaked for me.

I hated skinny tan, too sticky! Agree with garnier summer body, I got one in my asda shop today for a fiver. Goes on like body lotion, doesn't smell, apply twice a week and you'll have a nice subtle tan, recommend the light though and I'm quite dark skinned.

I think garnier summer body is pretty unbeatable for the price. I've just started using the st tropez gradual tan and while the colour is much better for me, it definitely has a wiff of "that smell".

I use the mousse fake tans and used to sleep in it and then take a shower in the morning but I've started to apply it earlier in the evening and then showing it off before bed. This takes off the sticky guide colour but the tan still develops overnight.

I didn't find skinny tan sticky at all? There's loads of different kinds though, they usually have loads of offers on like BOGOF.

Hate the smell of fake tan so I use skinny tan, didn’t find it sticky. Must start again for summer

Have you ever tried Dove summer glow? It’s a body moisturiser with tan in it. It smells nice and just gives you a nice, gradual light tan. I’ve used it for years and dd, after using st tropez for ages, used my dove and proclaimed it much better! It’s also only about £4.

Dove gradual tan. Garnish smells on me.

Well garnish would do, Garnier does too!

I have zero brand loyalty so depending on special offers Garner Summer Body (light), St Tropez in shower (dark my brilliant white legs resisted the light). I wouldn't use either on my face though - my skin is too sensitive their. Have the Isles if Paradise drops too and like them as I can use on my face but they have shot up in price. For face only Boots No 7 do a facial gradual tanner .

I love the skinny tan one called body glow, it’s a really natural colour after one application, I’m about three days in and I look like I’ve been away. Doesn’t smell offensive when you apply and I don’t feel the need to shower it straight off in the morning, my son said I smelt like marshmallows the other day after I’d applied it! I don’t use it on my face as I break out if I put anything on my face but it dries really quickly on my body, I just apply it like I was applying a normal body moisturiser.

I get it from Superdrug and it’s normally buy one get one half price so its about £12 for two. It’s normally with the body moisturisers though rather than the false tans, in a white pump action bottle.

Tan luxe
Or garnier or dove although I find you can’t smell them initially but you can later especially if the bottle isn’t new

I've never found one that doesn't have the fake tan smell. Even the ones that say they don't..

Another vote for Garnier - the lighter one - gives a natural colour & smells nice too

Another vote for Dove, I'm going to stick to that from now on rather than St Tropez etc.

The cocoa butter moisturiser has a gradual tanning one. Smells exactly like the moisturiser & gives a nice natural glow
