How long after your first grey hair do you have to make a decision?

Asking for a friend...🙈
So there are three options?

  1. Pluck until you're bald
  2. Dye
  3. Go grey gracefully

But how long until I (my friend) has to make a decision????
And what decision would you recommend?
I've always prized my fair hair with natural blonde highlights!

Ive been plucking my one grey hair out for the last 4 years then, a couple of months ago, I found 2 more that seemed to appear overnight. I’m still thinking about what to do about those ones.

With hindsight, I think I wouldn't start dyeing. But you can use henna or maybe highlights for quite a long time.

I found one in 2012 so 8 years ago and now I have maybe six? So I wouldn’t worry about one at all.

Sorry, I should expand on that. When you just have the odd grey hair, it can be quite easily covered, by whatever means you like. But once you start getting grey patches, or predominantly grey roots, you have either to commit to regular dyeing, or let it go grey. It's quite a big deal coping with transitioning demarcation lines from the roots down.
But it varies from person to person how long it takes - lots of people just have the odd silver hair well into their 40s, but most are more grey than not by 60. Some people have lots of grey in their late 20's/early 30's.
If you are fair, then highlights will work for a long time. If you are dark, you eventually have to make a choice.

My first grey appeared mid 20s. I was able to ignore it and occasionally dye until my early 30. Pregnancy and being a sloth meant I ignored it for a few years. Then from 35-39 I dyed it religiously every 4-6 weeks. I tried to grow it out last year and lasted six months before I cracked and dyed it again.

I think I found my first couple at 25. Then I started dying my hair at 31 because I was bridesmaid for my friend. Now I dye my hair every 8 weeks. I've got black hair and the front section is grey but the rest is black.

I've been plucking the odd one out since I was 30. I'm in my 50s.

I've got dark brown hair and started to get grey hairs about twenty years ago, they's a fair sprinkling of them now but I get it dyed every 8 weeks. I didn't get a chance to have it done before lockdown so they're becoming more noticeable now and by the time lockdown is over I'll either be desperate to get it done or I'll decide to let nature take its course.

I'm 49 now so still in my 20's when I noticed my first grey hairs.

First grey hairs appeared when 16. Dyed hair pretty much consistently TIL then. Am now 45 with about 90% grey, have recently embraced the silver (with a lilac colour wash through it).
