Dealing with facial hair in the time of Covid

Apologies if this has been covered - feel free to point me in the right direction.....

I normally have my upper lip waxed (also my eyebrows but I don't care so much about them & there is no way I could do it myself).

How easy is it to wax your own moustache?

Very.
Veet facial wax strips. They come as two strips stuck together, just warm then in your fingers to soften the wax and pull the strips apart. I find it better to then lay them on the side of the sink to cool again before pressing one strip on, rubbing it to warm and press the wax onto the hairs then pull very quickly. It stings slightly but better than looking like Freddie Mercury.

I’ve found the wax strips for my beard () hard to use. I don’t have the knack of pulling them off sharply.
I find dissolvable creams much easier.
Or you could try a bleach like Jolen if there’s not much hair but it’s dark.

You could literally go hair by hair with basic tweezers

Gawd so is it only me who can’t tweeze or wax (or thread) because it triggers my already fairly dark and tough hairs to turn into Teflon Hydra-like monsters??!!

Sorry it just makes me a bit fed up that so many people seem to be ok to tweeze/wax etc when that’s what triggered the most awful hair growth in my upper lip for me 10ish years ago

Laser is the only thing that works for me; had (several) salon courses and now I maintain with a home device, it was expensive but I have no other option really.

So envious!!! Wish I could tweeze!

I find the salon wax that I have (upper lip) really good. I have it done about every 2 months.
I do have very light hair though (on my lip but not on my chin

It would definitely happen. If I'm well enough before I leave for hospital (in this recurring waking nightmare I have) I'll pack a bag including hair removal items.
I'm hoping the mask will cover it. Once they take that off I'll ask a friendly nurse to help me out.

I normally tweeze as a rule. It is constant though and different hairs always seem to be on different growth patterns so it's a daily event. I do sometimes use a stripless microwave wax by veet. I don't think it's necessarily designed for the face but it's brilliant.

Wow, you can go 2 months between upper lip waxes?

Not sure how fast mine grows, about 3 weeks I think. I just wax. Its easy to do yourself. Plucking is a bit too time consuming for me.

My chin is a different matter, as mentioned above, totally different hair growth there. I have to shave

I use the Veet waxing strips too. I buy them on Amazon. So easy, but I do it once a month so I'm used to it now. The first moment where you have to pull the strip off yourself really takes a good hoist of your Big Girl Pants though. Then I just do it really fast over and over after that first one.

I shave my chin too.

I use an epilator, lowest setting, guard on. Have an arrangement with several friends that when we're elderly with dementia/poor eyesight/no cares, we'll have a moustache mafia on call

Has anyone managed to learn to thread? It looks easy but I’ve tried and failed. Even if I did learn I don’t see how I could do my own top lip. I asked DD to learn and do it for me but she’s refused

I invested in a wax pot and some strips, just like they have in the salon, cost £24 for wax,heater, strips and spatulas. Tried it out last week on upper lip, much to my surprise it worked really well. So much so that I did my legs yesterday. Not sure I'm going to be going back to my salon tbh when this is all over if I can do it myself at home

i have one of those boingy spring things...a bit like the tweezerman one posted about, but it's full length spring just with teeny orange handle blobs, it's really easy to use, tuppence ha'penny for two on the amazons

and threading is not that hard either... you just have to get coordinated with your wide or narrow finger action. :o

@strawberryshortcake2 ....I bought a LED lamp and polish and stuff for my nails...did them twice already and my toes...I am three weeks into lockdown and QUIDS IN already.
