What are your thoughts on fake lashes?

Too fake looking? Something only for the young? Or do you think given they can be applied with relative ease they can work for an everyday make-up look?

With a lot more time on my hands and no-where to go I've been experimenting and think I could see myself incorporating them into a daily look.

I like subtle ones. I have some in a drawer and this may be the time to work out how to use them at last.

I absolutely loved mine. Saved so much time in the mornings. I also had eye liner tattooed on, which wasn’t as painful as it sounds. Trouble was, I became allergic to the glue they use to fix the lashes. I’ve since learned that tiny mites live at the base of the lashes because you can’t wash your eyes properly. Yuck.

To me, fake stick on strip lashes are very 2010s... everyone seemed to be wearing them! I think they're a bit drag queen-esque now.

I think eyelash tint and lift would be my choice if I had the money, I'm not keen on extensions as they look terrible after a couple of weeks and look like they would be really irritating.

I'm sorry, I don't like them at all. Unless the look you're going for is very made up. I sometimes see people out and about with fake lashes and no other make up 9n and to me it looks very odd.

Honestly, they look what they are...fake.

I think they can look amazing but agree that they are a little OTT for daily wear. I had a really bad reaction to tbe glue on a salon set and 4 months in have very few lashes so an very reluctant to repeat.

I only wear them for nights out or special occasions but love them for that

I think the individually applied lashes look nice. I don't like the lashes on the strips. Especially the really thick ones.

I think they look horrific, sorry!

Only if you have a matching trout pout and really don't care what you look like Grin

Individual lashes I think are fine- they can be done subtly. I actually also have a set of “magnetic lashes” which - while in themselves are quite subtle - have to be applied with black eyeliner - which makes them really only good for a night out.

I've had natural looking ones which were subtle and they were really nice, but last time I had them they were too long and OTT. They only looked good if I wore quite a lot of makeup, which isn't my usual look.
I say go for it, but keep them short-ish and not too full.

I suspect the people saying they look horrific have only noticed the ones which are done badly, as done well they wouldn't stand out too much.

If you can see them and tell they are fake, then avoid if you're going for a natural/grown up look.

However, individual lashes can be really effective and do look very natural. They just give you a bit of thickness and fluttery-ness. For special occasions I apply 4-5 on each eye and you cant tell unless you stare very closely. Just adds a bit of natural 'pretty'. If you have the patience this could be a really nice day look.

I don't like them, they all look fake to me. If I had really short or sparse natural lashes I'd consider using very natural type ones, but I think people's perceptions are skewed as to what not a eyelashes are.

They probably can be done well but most can be spotted at 100 paces.

I wear the strip ones most days but they are natural looking and just look like I have mascara on. I have naturally short eyelashes that look rubbish even with mascara on. The very long thick ones look too OTT for everyday use but can be nice (if makeup is done well) for a night out when wanting to look more glamorous.

I suppose natural looking ones go unnoticed, so I can’t comment on them. If I can notice them, then they don’t look good.

The ones which resemble Hoover brushes are awful.

I have never seen natural looking ones, some better than others, granted but they do look fake and towie. Even eyelash lift, horrific.

I have never seen natural looking ones to be fair how would you know?!

vaz119 · 05/04/2020 12:29

I have some very natural ones on a strip that glue on but the band is invisible,so list look like in wearing mascara. I don't wear them much really except when I go out.

I know some women who wear them and they look fine - natural, enhance otherwise very spare/sparse lashes (I wouldn't even know but they've told me they wear them and I've seen them eyelash-less when they've stayed over). Some definitely look OTT but they tend to be worn by women who wear a lot of make up anyway so I suppose it fits that very made-up look. I think they can look subtle and natural and are fine for older women, just don't go for the massive, excessively long ones.

I use the ardell Demi wispies for every day, definitely not 'too much'

I like them. I don't have them myself as my own eyelashes are naturally long. But i think they look nice
