Just wanted to say how much the S&B board cheers me up!

I know it's got quieter than it used to be but I'm still loving dipping into the queries on here!

I'm a bit of a lurker as I never feel I have huge amounts to contribute (some very savvy people on here) but it's really brightening my days, stuck at home trying to home-ed DD while get on with work, to have the occasional browse on her with a cup of coffee in my hand.

I know things are shit, and going to get more shit, and I daren't think more than about 2 days ahead at the moment tbh as DH's job is precarious and we are worried about elderly parents.

BUT this board is a lovely little chink of sunlight back to the good ol' days when I used to really REALLY care about skincare (I still care, just other things are more important right now!) and trainers Grin and I hope very much that one day in the not-too-distant future those days will be back!

Thanks everyone who's starting or posting on random threads on here Daffodil

I also miss the style and beauty threads. I keep looking to see if there are any new ones particularly the clothing ones. Guess at the moment we all have nothing to dress up for

I love S&B as well, but I’m generally giving MN a wide berth just now because I can’t cope with the tone of a lot of the threads. I’ve hidden the entire corona topic, but threads still pop up. I have probably, according to many, single handedly destroyed the NHS and murdered people because I put a Vogue, a bunch of daffs and a face serum in with my Tesco order yesterday.

I feel your pain cherries Flowers For the most part, I find S&B a little haven from cant and sanctimony but even here, it creeps in occasionally.

I'm a hardened republican but loving the royal style thread at the moment.

S&B keeps me going! Life is very tough right now for so many of us and it's just a little place to chill. Caring about clothes/fashion keeps me going ( always even without current health thing) and I need the distraction. Keep on posting!

S&B is an oasis of sensible frivolity where most posters are kind and friendly. It has been a bit lacklustre recently, with too few new threads to read and enjoy, but as PPs have commented, there are no shops open and conspicuous consumption really doesn't match the zeitgeist.

I just wanted to say that my most favourite of all Mumsnet Classic threads is the one that came from here.
Expectations v Reality.
It's one of the funniest threads I've ever read. I'm old and can't work out how to link but it's well worth a look.
Such humour, wit self deprecation, it's a laugh out loud thread.
So thanks from me to all that contributed.

This and the Positive Mental Health thread are keeping me going at the moment. I am keeping the economy going by making an intermittent Zara order. Like iloveCherries by doing that I am probably single-handedly spreading the virus by having parcels delivered according to the sackcloth and ashes crowd on the other threads.

I rarely post in here much but so love a nosy around. I ordered some YSL lipsticks and I’m eagerly waiting on them arriving. I expect that parcel will cheer me up!

People on here are candid but fair. No swearing at people, no sarcasm. It’s a good board.

Was just saying on another thread that it's so nice to have something normal to think about.
This board is a lovely reprieve.

I’m making the most of not having to go out in all weathers and trying all the different creams that have somehow arrived in my home over the years! If anything I have more interest at the moment!
I received a sample to try (just before lockdown) of a new no7 night anti wrinkle cream, don’t know it’s name as it was due a big release in April so it was all plain packed etc. It’s utterly amazing, wrinkles gone and lovely smooth cheeks after just a few uses. The big release I guess may not happen as planned now but worth keeping an eye out for. It might just save me from the premature ageing that educating the minions is bound to inflict...

Just re-read that reality v expectations... and PMSL. I think most of the stories are mine to own too.

My favourite ever thread was also from this board, all about what to wear to a swingers club.....it was hilarious but actually rather enlightening at the same time Grin

I love this corner of Mumsnet. I would have given up on MN years ago if it wasn't for this bit.

It's just a slice of frivolity and joy compared with the angry, judgemental nastiness on some of the other threads.

Absolutepowercorrupts I’m so glad you postedthat! Obviously the current situation is hugely important but I’m desperate for a small break from it, every TV and radio programme is about Covid as is almost every thread on MN apart from in classics, so that’s where I’m headed for some relief from the subject for a while , I hadn’t thought of it before now 😊

Just enjoyed reading the reality v expectation thread in Classics.
Been chuckling away to myself, having not even smiled for over a week.
Have saved some for another day!

If you want to have a good old laugh to cheer you up there's a wonderful s and b thread in classics called something like "expectation vs reality"

Il'll see if I can find it

I love S&B as well. It’s a much needed slice of ‘normal life’ for me at the moment. I’m going to have a read of that classics thread when the baby’s gone down for his morning nap.

I’ve just read that classics thread on your recommendation. Don’t know how I missed it first time round, so funny.
