Me!!!

I mainly love the feeling of being clean so although others SAY my hair isn't greasy it feels heavy and nasty if I don't wash daily.

Occaaaassionally use dry shampoo (only since I bleached my hair though) and it does work. I mainly use it as almost hairspray if I'm going out to give texture though....

I'm the same. Bloody annoying. I find dry shampoo is ok to cover me for a school run or something but definitely not all day.

Surely hair is more greasy of over washed

Yes. Every day without fail. If I didn't it would only make my skin worse.

I have to wash my hair more as I get older. I hate leaving it a second day now and can’t stand dry shampoo.

Washed my hair every single day since I was a teen. It's the only way to tame it.

Yes, I wash my hair every morning. I just make sure I use good quality shampoo and conditioner (Redken or Kerastase) and really look after it i.e. I wear a silk hair wrap at night, I try to keep heat styling to a minimum (and always use heat protection etc).

My hairdresser told me if I didn't wash my hair for 10 days, it would start to self-regulate and after that need washing less often (i.e. not every day). I was in hospital and too unwell to shower/wash hair for almost 2 weeks and it didn't make a jot of difference. My hair was a greasy mess and stayed a greasy mess. So I'm just resigned to washing my hair every morning. No big deal, it's normal for me. And I like having clean hair.

Since dying it myself at home every 6 weeks it's greasy all the time.

Every day. I'm 57. Mid length, thin. My hair was really greasy as a teen ( recall the shame of classmates asking if I'd been swimming after school as it looked like that, aged 14- but my folks were '2 baths per week' people...)

I think, unlike other pp, why spend ££ on shampoo and conditioner if you still have to wash daily? It obviously doesn't help.

Dry shampoo is an option. I don't mind it, but I did the '2 week' thing a few years ago, to 'stabilise' my hair.

It didn't. Straight back to grease-central.

I'm stuck with it. It worries me as we plan on motor-homing in Europe, sometimes off grid, in retirement. I need to come to terms with it!

Yes, it's tedious but it always looks awful after the first day. I find the all purpose Tresemme shampoo about the best at the moment (I think it's the green one). You need a clear shampoo, but not one that's too harsh, like an anti-dandruff one I previously tried. That one (green Elvive?) did last a couple of days but my hair was dry and dull.

The only thing that broke my cycle of daily washing was switching to a shampoo bar. I sometimes even go 3 days now without washing and it looks great.

That sounds good, MyOtherProfile. Which bar is it?

Wonkybanana · 26/02/2020 23:11

I do. Not because it's particularly greasy, but because it's very strong, and when I've slept on it in the morning it sticks out at all angles and looks like something Jedward rejected for being too extreme. And just wetting it doesn't cut it.

Another grease bomb here. I try to make mine last for 2 days but in reality it's better everyday. I've heard the whole don't wash it for 3 days and it'll regulate etc - bollocks.

I have had to wash my hair daily since my teens. Getting highlights and using dry shampoo means I can stretch it out to 2-3 days. I envy people who only need to wash their hair once a week.

@Miljea you can get shampoo caps that allow you to wash your hair without the need for any additional soap or water. They are intended for people who need bed baths etc but would do the trick for off-grid motor homing too 😊

Mine is fine & flyaway. It needs washing every day, always has done. Dry shampoo just doesn't cut it and doesn't make my scalp feel clean. It's short so I just wash it quickly in the shower every morning.

I genuinely think I have the world’s greasiest hair.

I’ve been at home all day today so haven’t washed it today. One day. And it looks like this...

Does anyone else have to wash their hair every day??

I don’t have too wash it every day I choose to do it . I couldn’t start the day without being clean . The thought of dry shampoo makes me itch .
I assume people who use it don’t bother showering or bathing either ?

Me too. But like others here- i have very fine "baby like" hair! It's very soft to touch!!! But, yup- every morning it needs to be washed otherwise it'd be too greasy to look presentable. I don't mind. It dries quickly as it's so fine. I use relatively cheap shampoo. I don't use much styling stuff- occasionally a little mousse. I like it being clean too 🙂

boswells Shock I thought mine was greasy but.. but.. Shock.
I've tried self regulation too and declare it bollocks. I washed mine this morning and as I went to tie it up this evening I noticed that the sides were already slick.
Dry shampoo does work but I still feel minging. I bought a shampoo bar the other day so I'll see if it works.

Yup, daily. I have mad colour in mine so trying to get used to every other day, but can only not wash it if I'm working all day at home and not having to go out to meetings or clients Blush

It feels worse than it looks on the first day I skip a wash and it feels and looks horrific by day 3, so unless I'm properly poorly, it gets washed every day. Blow dried maybe 3-4 times a year which definitely helps - it was worse when I was blow-drying daily.

speckledy how rude are you! If I'm in a hurry I can shower in a minute but washing my hair obviously adds quite a bit of time on. I'm guessing you are not really stupid and would know that.

@MyOtherProfile which shampoo bar is that?

OP, I don't get on well with dry shampoo but if I have to use it my pick is Aussie :)

@SpeckledyHen lol why would you think that? That's what shower caps are for Grin
