I'm 28, have EDS and suspected early arthritis (find out Thursday)
This leaves me in agony daily. It can take me up to two hours just to get out of bed.

I'm also mentally ill, and I'm trying to do things that make me feel good about myself. One of these things is wearing makeup.

I need tips on the best makeup to buy (I don't have a lot of it) and any tips for looking good in a hurry!

Oh wise MNers help me!

I don't have any make up tips but think you have lovely skin.

I hope someone comes along with some suggestions for you soon

I really like cyo foundation. I apply it with a wet sponge and it's super quick. Rimmel stay matte pressed powder on top and it will stay all day. I also use the Rimmel bronzer. Maybelline falsies mascara. And a mac lipstick always! My fave shade is velvet Teddy. I can do my makeup in about 4 mins! Just make sure you blend out the bronzer so you don't have any harsh lines 😊

You are naturally a very lovely looking girl with perfect skin. Don’t cover it up.

If you want to try inexpensive makeup, the MUA range in Superdrug is very good value. Superdrug and Boots also stock the Sleek range which makes amazing eyeshadow palettes with great pigmentation and staying power. Both shops often do 3 for 2 offers. Watch a few YouTube make up tutorials to get an idea of looks and colours you like, then set a budget, buy the stuff that takes your fancy and get practicing in front of the mirror. Have fun.

Oh I wasn't aware Primark did makeup! Is it actually half decent?
I've been watching loads of YouTube videos but they all seem to take ages, piling makeup on! I need something that takes a quick 5 minutes then I don't look homeless when leaving the house Grin

Sponges... That's another thing. My mum bought me a set of brushes but I don't have any sponges. Do I need them? Are cheap ones any good or do I need more expensive ones?

I am literally clueless!

Primark make up is brilliant, especially for the price. I have the mascara and foundation, I use them daily and the foundation is a perfect match for my skin tone. Otherwise, superdrug has a huge range of moderately priced makeup. Try one of the eyeshadow palettes and have some fun with it. You can pick up sponges for foundation application in Home Bargains but they're not essential.

I have a cheap tube of primark foundation that cost me £2.50 which I prefer to the mac bottle which cost me at least £20
Their gel nail varnishes are good too for £1. Best think to do is try a foundation, mascara and primer. You will probably spend less than £10

I still aspire to be able to do my make up well, then always plan to watch those videos but never have the time or the inclination to put loads on!

Blush thank you.
My partner of 12 years recently left. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup and I always felt ugly and frumpy. I'm trying now to challenge that mindset.

You look fab in that photo, so I’m not sure that you actually need any make up advice! Your skin is so clear and your eyebrows are great. I’d recommend lipstick for a quick boost. I love Clinique chubby sticks.

You're naturally beautiful as you are! Please believe this. Sounds as though you need a confidence boost. How about going to a department store with a friend for a free make over to find out colours you like?

The body shop do a really good BB cream. It comes out white but once you rub it in, it blends in with your natural skin tone. You have lovely skin so a little will go along way.

Kiko has a good stick cream blush! I use a brush to blend but can easily be done with fingers too ☺️

Nyx do good eyeshadow palettes and are reasonably priced. Their lip products and eyebrow stuff is really good too. Good if you want to start getting into make up!

H&M have brought out a make up range and their eyeshadow sticks are pretty decent. Easy to apply and again you can blend with your fingers.

I hope this helps!

Also I am a sponge/beauty blender user. Mine are just cheap primark ones.

You look great already op. Would defo echo the recommendations about primark make up. Their mascara is great value (about £3). Haven’t tried their foundation though. Re brushes versus sponges, it’s personal choice I think. I prefer a brush. Have a root around the make up aisles in boots, or Superdrug, primark etc, and have fun picking a few things out.

Thanks everyone.

I definitely need a confidence boost.
Since I was 16 I've been in an emotionally abusive relationship and I really feel awful. I've put in a lot of weight too which doesn't help, but I'm trying.
