High waisted wide leg work trousers?

MrsFionaCharming · 14/02/2020 17:05

I bought some amazing trousers for work in the collectif sale. I love the shape, which is really flattering on me, but the quality is terrible. I’ve barely worn them and they’re already really bobbly.

Has anyone got anything similar in better quality?

It depends on your budget but I have quite a few pairs of trousers from Palones and the quality and cut is fabulous.

Those are lovely, but sadly well out of budget!

Bumping as I'm on the look out for some too. Wide legs are in this season so I'm hoping they start to filter through to the high street soon, a lot of the designer brands have them in their SS launch, so fingers crossed.

I love the idea of these kind of trousers for work; what kind of shoes do people wear with them?

I bought some from M & S and I'm quite pleased with them. www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60274484

I have the M&S one's too - they look a lot nicer than they do on the model in the pic. Fabric is good, washes well, very comfortable.

I was just thinking that I really want a smart wide legged pair of black trousers for work. I used to have lovely ones from Next back in the day.

Do the M&S ones look as slouchy and casual IRL?

The miracle trousers from Winser London are amazing; but pricey at £99 but wash really well and look great. I’ve had mine for over a year, with frequently and still jet black, not bobbled etc. I think it’s because they’re such a thick ponte material

Shameless place making as this is the holy grail for me too.

If the don't bobble, or colour fade, then they lose their shape in the knee!

I love wide leg trousers and haven't found nice ones in years. My last pair were from Next.

I like Boden's wide leg trousers - they fit nicely and are a good quality.

I haven't bought any this year so I don't have any links but, if you're on a budget, I'd look at Uniqlo - especially the U range - and (if you can face the rummaging) H&M. I also think Zara tailored stuff can be surprisingly decent although their trouser sizing remains a mystery.

If you can pay a bit more, I'd try Cos, Massimo Dutti, Arkett.

The best ones I've had from the high street were Toast.

I've just bought the Next ones (2nd link £26) and they are lovely, but I'm a short arse, and at only 5ft, I ordered petite but still too bloody long on me!

As a size 14 I struggle to find trousers that look ok over my bum so going to try and shorten them as they actually bloody fit!

I usually buy from M&S or Next, but I've just ordered these from Uniqlo. I've had other styles from Uniqlo that I've liked so I hope these are as good.

House of Foxy - //www.thehouseoffoxy.com

They do wonderful high-waisted trousers based on patterns from the 1930s and 1940s.

Basically they are a bit like Collectif in that they are a vintage reproduction clothing company, but a million times better quality (and made in Europe, with a boss lady who actually gives a damn!).

I used to sell both brands when I had my own shop so feel free to ask me any questions about them Smile
