Cleaning a shearling coat

Had a very lucky find at a tabletop sale yesterday & found a vintage shearling coat, which along with a pair of converse cost me the princely sum of a fiver! Fits like a dream & beautifully cosy but is a bit grubby.
Before I go & spend a fortune on dry cleaning I would like to know if anybody had had experience of cleaning a shearling coat at home, how they have done it & how successful it's been.

I'd stick it in the washing machine on a wool wash! I've washed a vintage shearling coat like this, came out fine. Low spin.
