Are you an hourglass shape? Do you find jeans difficult?

I just bought some jeans from Pretty Little Thing's "shape" range. I was sceptical at first, as their dresses etc are very young and geared towards clubbing, but oh my god. The jeans are amazing. For the first time since I was a kid, I have a pair of jeans that actually fit!

I have a 13 inch difference between my waist and hips and had pretty much given up on trousers and jeans, apart from 1 extremely expensive pair of trousers from Emmy Design Sweden. The PLT jeans were only £20 with a discount code. I'm going to try out their shorts and trackie bottoms too. I feel bad that I only discovered them now!

Are there any other brands that cater for wide hips/ big bum versus small waist?
I've also tried Vivien of Holloway and Collectif, but the PLT jeans are so affordable and actually fit much better!

I would be interested in an update in a few weeks once you've worn and washed them a couple of times. I buy Next 360 jeans and they are pretty good but nearly £50 a pair. I did get some from Sainsburys that were amazing when I first got them but they washed like rags and lost their shape completely.

Yeah that is a fair point, but I've never found mid price jeans with such an extreme hourglass shape before. I really hope they wash ok!
I've tried Next jeans but they gap at the waist at the back.

Argh typo. I mean they gape! I wish there was an edit function.

I wear Topshop Joni jeans. They are so comfortable and fit perfectly around my waist.

I buy vintage Levi “Bold Curve” jeans from eBay. Until I lucked onto a pair I’d never had a decent fitting pair.

They were extensively recommended on here but have been one of my worst buys recently. The dye washes out further every wash. The jeans look cheap and shapeless. I won’t be buying supermarket jeans again.

I wear Next hypercurve which fit me really well, going to look at the PLT ones

I loved the long discontinued Levi’s Bold Curve and am still eeking out a couple of pairs.

Interested in this find, OP! Do they go up to 34 inch leg?

I've also got a 13 inch difference, I usually take in the waist in the back

Buy jeans to fit your hips/bum and have them taken in to fit you on the waist. It’s the best way to get around this issue.

Yeah, obviously tailoring is a good solution, but for people who don't have time for that, definitely check out these PLT shape jeans. Don't let the style of the dresses etc put you off! I'll report back when I've washed them a couple of times. I really hope they keep their shape!
I'm going to see if I can find any Levi Bold Curve jeans in the meantime! They sound really good too!

Omg, are Levi bold curve considered vintage!? I did like those.

@MocholateMousse they do seem really long, so would probably be grand for you. They also do a tall range!

They’re not cheap, but I’ve been happy with Lady K jeans. The Hug Me Baby or Polly (which is the petite version) are great.

Ooh will have a look!

I've just been out for a country walk and my jeans are now covered in mud, so I will be able to update sooner than I thought re: how these PLT jeans wash!

Yes. I went shopping yesterday and have realised the only jeans that work for me are high waisted.
I have the added issue of being petite.
My best find were in m&s - I have black skinny high waist (Carrie) and high waist mom jeans: www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-mom-fit-ankle-grazer-jeans/p/clp60273187

Ooh they look pretty good; 10 inch difference between the waist and hips and a similar price. Will have a look if these PLT jeans don't wash well.

Ps these are the jeans I bought. I realised I forgot to link them. www.prettylittlething.com/shape-black-low-rise-super-stretch-denim-jeans.html
The 12 has a 28.5 inch waist and a 43 inch hip/bum. I haven't seen that ratio in any other jeans! 14.5 inch difference! But a 10 inch difference is still much better than most highstreet shops I'd imagine.

I avoid PLT, Boohoo etc, find the quality awful and I have completely rehauled my wardrobe, going for quality over quantity and fast fashion these days, let me know if you try them on!

My topic! Levi’s bold - only available on eBay and they’re not consistently sized. Gap curvy - too big on thighs which causes bunching. Uniqlo standard jeans pretty good. The kardashians ‘Good American’ range too stretchy and I was constantly tugging them up. My current favs are True Religion Jenny curves; and Guess curved.

Right, jeans washed absolutely fine. Got another pair that turned up today. Also got some trousers. One pair were for someone about 7ft tall. They were striped but the stripes were all wonky around the groin and where the waistband attached. The other pair were so tight around the calves I couldn't move. They will be going back.

In conclusion, great for jeans! Maybe jeans shorts. Maybe trackie bottoms. Nowt else, unless you are super tall and don't mind cheap fabric.
I'm still so pleased about the jeans though!

My hips waist ratio is lightly larger (with big thighs) but then my inside leg is 35 inches so I’m basically stuffed when it comes to jeans. I have one type of lts jean that fits and own about 5 pairs of them. I must just look like I’m wearing the same pair all the time’

I have a very small waist but massive hips so high waisted jeans mostly look shit on me. Typically I’ll buy low or mid rise.

I’ve bought a few investment jeans of late: Citizens of Humanity and mother. Both great fits and thicker denim as I hate it when the material is so thin it’s like a legging.

I’ve worn River Island jeans which are also fine but don’t tend to last very long.

@TheWomanTheyCallJayne the PLT jeans are quite long and the trousers are very very very long, so they would be great for you! Avoid stripes though; they really showed up the cheapness!
I can't wear low rise or mid rise; I end up with a builder's bum!

White stuff jeans have been a revelation to me. Bought some on recommendation from a friend of a similar shape. Not the cheapest but they're holding their shape and wash well. They sit fairly high but not in high waisted tummy strangling way! Not sure if they have longer legged options. Worth a try perhaps?
