Longchamp Foldup Bags

Need to get a lap top bag but I am thinking of getting one of those fold up nylon Longchamp bags. Anyone else use these for laptop carrying? Is it ok? Laptop is 14 inches and will be in protective sleeve.

I am guessing it will have to be a large tote.

Any similar bags like this that fold without the price tag of a Longchamp%?

I use my Longchamp for my laptop.it does jiggle about but no problems at all. The bags are massively strong. Then you can also use the bag for other things. They are nice bags

I don’t use it for a laptop but I use it when I have a lot more heavy things to carry than just a lap-tip. The handles are padded so they don’t dig into your shoulder the way my coach tote bags (of similar size) do, so they’re absolutely amazing for carrying heavy things.

Absolutely brilliant.

Oh and I use to commute a lot and found shoulder bags were much better than messenger type for carrying laptops on the tube. People would inadvertently hit the kind of bag that dangles at waist level jostling about but if it’s under your arm, it’s much more part of your body space.

As the bag is light weight but strong it is ideal .

I would be doing a bit of walking with it and using public transport. I don't want to carry it on my shoulder (I have got a shoulder problem at the moment) so I want to carry it but perhaps the straps are too long for that.

For those who do use it for laptop carrying, is it the large size you have?

I used a long champ bag for carrying laptops and it's knackered my shoulder as it's too heavy for carrying on one shoulder - plus all the other stuff I cart around

A revelation for me was the COS rucksack - so comfy yet looks good, and is so practical https://www.cosstores.com/engbp/men/accessories/bags-and-wallets/bags/product.tote-backpack-black.0784009003.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiA4NTxBRDxARIsAHyp6gBN6yydkQi8g5EbXWe0joUfT3h7w0YbdHX07OcBLI0HHDRjiNyGb-UaApVkEALww_wcB

You can get different handle lengths - short handle and long handle. That might help with your decision! :)

I use mine for my laptop. Works ok as I take the le pliage folded up in my handbag in the morning, then unfold and put my laptop in at the end of the day. It is a bit cumbersome and I'm considering a backpack for days when I have to take my laptop home but it works for now

@knackeredmumoftwo thanks for the link to that bag, love it!

I have my SurfacePro in mine. They're good because they're waterproof, and zip up fully, unlike lots of leather totes. The handles are so strong you can carry a heavy load daily, and the bag itself weighs almost nothing - I've had leather bags before that were dead heavy even when nearly empty. I have the medium bag with long handles.

Oh and OP, I love my Longchamp bag. It was a gift and I’d never have bought one for myself, but it’s such a great size and so useful that I use mine a lot. It’s great for laptops I think.

Ooh and I got my longchamp bag off eBay - £35 ish and lots of lovely colours so you could get one from there and the cos bag for sort of the price of a proper longchamp one

Big fan of Longchamp bags. I find them really useful for my surface laptop with lots of space for other things too. Started to use it as a cabin bag too. Really good and useful.

Does it help to know my was bought in a French supermarket? It wasn't dirt cheap but nothing like what they charge in airports here. Or Selfridges for that matter.

I think they're great bags, and there's no reason why you can't carry a laptop around. I have two - a long-handled handbag size and a short-handled overnight one.

If you look on the Longchamp website you can see all the sizes, colours and handle lengths of Le Pliage available. I bought mine in John Lewis, but tbh they were pretty much the same price from Longchamp themselves, and there's a massive choice.

I have 4 longchamps now in assorted colours- they’re the only handbags I’d bother with now since they’re so light and hold so much.

I’ve been known to throw them in the washing machine to freshen them up if that affects your decision at all!

I’ve just bought one with a long strap that I can wear cross body (think it’s a Le Pliage Neo) and it’s perfect for carrying a laptop.

Depending on your laptop size, they make a backpack too www.marieclaire.com/fashion/a22656300/longchamp-le-pliage-backpack-review/

Thanks all. I don't want a cross body or backpack, so I will investigate a short handled large tote. There seem to be cheap versions on eBay but as they ship from China they look like dupes so I will look at pukka websites.

I have loads & loads of longchamp bags
I have 2 of the The backpacks one are really big enough for a laptop
iPad mini will fit in it though
If you get them direct from longchamp you can have different length of handles on different bags pretty much design your own style

I love my le pliage. The £35 fakes from eBay are identical. I can’t tell the difference between my real and fake ones they’re so good!

Use it ‘off duty’ as well as so versatile
