New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

Picking up from here

Roaring 20s! Exactly! Thanks Lib

And the timing is brilliant just as we look to SS great work everyone pulled it around Grin

On the roaring 20s I’m watching Downton Abbey - how good is Maggie Smith? And Isabel Crawley not sure of her real name. My two favourites. But also back to S&B roaring 20s Lady Mary looks brilliant.

Oh brill Lib a shiny new thread, new decade and ace friendships. Thanks for setting it up.
I’m posting THAT outfit again here to remind me just how ace it is.
I’m the same as Apple purchases are going to be a lot more considered. I’m reading All Black Everything and it has reminded me that I need to stay true to myself. If I think back to all the times I have felt great about myself, it has been when I have been in ‘rock chick’ / ‘clubbing’ / ‘structured’ mode.
The thing I miss most about not working is the structured clothing and tailoring - not the work itself! Grin
So I set up some new Pin boards last night, one called Muse and one called All black everything and started pinning like crazy.
I’m going to go through my wardrobe again - whoever made the comment about stripes really resonated with me as I hardly wear them anymore. I just need a bit of a refresh and some space.
Funny how my wardrobe is usually the start of something bigger.
I’m burbling aren’t I?

Great opener Lib, thanks for sorting

Waves to Justa, great to see you back. Loving the 2 boots you linked especially the 2nd pair-you alway do good shoe

Shop sorry to hear of your stressful few days- hope everyone is on the mend. Really like the outfit you linked especially the jumper.

Kitty, I don't wear shirts very often either - my default is a jumper - s/s in the summer. I made an effort to buy a few more shirts last year and managed to purchase the grand total of 4! I remember the fab one with the ruffle you wore to a mu - you looked really nice in it.

Have a very busy weekend and have just about planned all outfits.
Last night I wore the Zara black and white midi dress with the office shoe boots, silver jewellery and very old Oasis pink envelope clutch

Tonight I'll be wearing the Great Plains jumpsuit with either SE heels or Office shoe boots, leather jacket and animal print clutch

Tomorrow will be Boden culottes, hush animal print shirt, mango leather jacket and the shoe boots again.

Monday will be pj's!

Kitty I wear a t or jumper with jeans. I have a few other tops I never wear. Probably more for work though. I probably won’t change whilst I have to pick up dd every now and again as it wrecks clothes.

I like the idea of being more considered too. I nearly ordered those outnet boots because they were close but the Legres were much better. The Marant scarf has been a winner too. Looking for a dress and white trainers to do the same.

Live that whole outfit Shop

Roaring 20s, love it!Smile

I am wearing this Oliver Bonas knitted jumper today with black j crew matchstick jeans. Jumper was a present and its total love. I wore R&B knee high boots and Superdry parka coat with Michael Kors jetset handbag when I popped out

Thanks for the new thread Lib

Great outfits MrsM & Caroline in fact I now want a jumper with my initial on.

Justa re-read my post and it should say I can't decide whether I prefer not like. I like them both, same but very different.

Rant alert - Those of you with Hush clothing - how do you find the quality? Personally I think it's rubbish based on personal experience. I only have 3 tops and they all turned baggy and shapeless after a few washes. In fact I'm thinking about sticking them in the tumble dryer to shrink them.

Kitty I wasn’t impressed with the Hush oversized roll neck that I got. Lovely on first wear but hasn’t washed well. For £100+ I’m disappointed. Wouldn’t bother buying from them again.
mrShop bought me a plain grey t-shirt for Christmas but I’ve only worn it once so far....

Which brings me to my next question - where does everyone buy basic tees with good drape from now? Used to be American Vintage and J Crew? Any other recommendations?

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2020 09:52

I’ve only had Hush pjs not that great imo

I got some new ones from Matches should link, they’re much nicer

Shop I can’t really do drape for ts but need a perfect shape and that’s ATM for me

shopafrolic · 11/01/2020 10:52

Interesting Marsha I’m not even sure if it is drape I need, but definitely not rigid cotton. I didn’t love AV tees, got on well with J Crew linen v necks. Would pay £ for the perfect crew and v neck ones - one of each style in black, white and grey.

I like the schoolboy slub. Which style do you wear Marsha?

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2020 11:16

Yep schoolboy I have three I think, not cheap so always in the sales.

Car cost pain new tyre £255 😫 sharing my pain might help

Hush is overpriced imho but then again so is MV, Whistles etc so rarely pay fp if I can help it.

Saying that I did pay fp for Hush skirt , t, dress & shirt last year! Quality was only 'ok' but all wash & wear well except the t shirt.

Whilst talking quality, I've been disappointed with a few whistles things too-not washed well at all and I ended up chucking a shirt that is only worn a few times. The zebra Lola however is still perfect after many washes and wears and still one of my favourites; cpw is minus figures now!

MrsM I agree about the Whistles dresses they were good buys, especially the black giraffe print one.

Marsha ouch

Shop I like Madewell for t shirts/tanks but now they've stopped stocking that brand in John Lewis and p&p is too much now to buy direct from Madewell ditto JCrew. I've been impressed with a Toast tee I have and would buy from them again.

A few weeks ago on S & B someone posted where to shop if fed up of the high street. I now find myself in that dilemma.
JCrew & Madewell now charge £15 p&p online and I can't get into town that often to go to the actual shop. I wear casual clothes more than smart/formal wear as I only work part time.

I've seem to have gone off my favourites from the past ie Massimo Dutti I used to love their clothes. I'm not really a fan of Arket, &OStories use too much mmf. I feel like a right whinger but I don't know where to shop anymore. 1st world problems I knowBlush

Actually I've just thought of one Sézane - I like their blouses.

Sorry for the whinge Blush

afternoon ladies

Im really stuck ina rut in terms of finding anything i want to buy. just nothing is appealing to me at all. the only thing ive bought recently has been perfume and some DKNY pjs fromg ood old TkMaxx. I suppose its better than being wasteful but i see gaps where i need things but i have no idea what to buy to fill them. I suppose i shall just have to keep on looking until something jumps out at me Grin

thanks for new thread lib Thanks

I hate spending money on stuff like that Marsha - it’s up there with having to buy underwear Grin
Kitty my Whistles’ dresses have lasted well. I haven’t bought anything from there in the last year or so though. I feel like I can get designer sale (hopefully better quality) for upper level high st FP IYSWIM?

Woah....thought I’d lost you.
Kitty I Love shirts on other people. I love a crisp white shirt with jeans and often wear white shirt, sleeves rolled up with a black skirt and animal flats for work. I am fussy though. Shirts can just add bulk or look too masculine for me, so, I have them in a softer more fluid cotton or fitted with elastane. I’m probably a blouse woman really.

All totally unnecessary information really.

Am sitting here, having blow dries hair and done nails, with those big Velcro rollers on ...big hair tonight ladies Grin

Or a new roof....necessary, expensive, but so BORING and you can’t even see it really

Report

Argh new roof I’m struggling with even the idea of that. Dh keeps talking about new pipes. Keep talking sunshine! (Better not jinx our pipe situation saying that)

Dry never too much info. I was eyeing up a silk shirt but had a good think about when exactly I’d wear it.

Shop I feel exactly the same re sale designer v fp high end high st.
