What to wear with this dress and my Docs?

I bought this dress for my work Christmas night and will wear it to that mostly as it’s styled on the site. However, I have a couple of other more casual Christmas events, like an alternative/ artsy panto and drinks that I want to “edge-ify” it for.

So I was thinking different bag, jewellery etc and my long black winter coat or leather jacket and my black Docs. But what do you wear on your legs in the depth of winter with dresses and Docs? In summer with dresses I just have bare legs/ scrunch socks down over the top. But I don’t think that’s going to work here?

I also have plain back Chelsea boots but again not sure about tights/ no tights and if tights, what kind. And I kind of like the whole velvet/ leather/ Docs vibe if I can work out this legs thing!

Help?!

I also realise that’s not the best photo but I can’t be bothered to put it on again for a picture from the front and I took that earlier to see how much my bum stuck out Confused and if the shoes looked ok

Fishnet tights? I wear those with Docs. If you need to be warmer you can put fishnets on top of sheer flesh coloured tights, you can’t tell. Nice dress.

Thanks @Daisy62!

Fishnets went through my mind but I wondered if you still need some sock at the top of the boot?! I know it sounds weird but I feel like it’ll look odd without but that might just be because I am so used to wearing them like that. I’m also worried about the tights ripping or snagging because docs are such hard leather.

See this pics for what I mean Smile

I think black tights would work fine. But im mainly on here to say what a gorgeous dress it is and wish I had the figure for it.

You look amazing

If fishnets are too cold you could wear them over opaques, I like that look

Another good idea to try- thanks @slipperyeel . Some tights shopping this weekend, I think! 😆

Opaques or patterned tights.
I know what you mean about socks, I used to still scrunch a pair down when I wore dresses and tights in the 80's

DSis has this sort of style and she’s wearing a lot of tights with tiny polka dots at the minute!

How about tartan tights, tartan knee high socks or metallic tights? You can also buy fishnet socks and could wear those with nude or metallic tights

Plain black opaque tights and docs. Why mess with perfection.

I know it’s not what you asked for but I think this jacket would look fab : www.spartoo.co.uk/mobile/Oakwood-Perfecto-in-sheep-leather-x12391642.php?sx=F&track_id=affwindow323889&awc=2638_1573848290_15e38dc1684b1d715f8a8db431a9be34

Patterned tights and no socks. 👍🏻

As it’s a dressy dress, I think opaques might be too heavy... I’d go for a sheerer pattern or fishnet. I wouldn’t wear socks that show, again as I think too heavy for the dress. I’d wear socks that fit inside the boots though, for warmth and comfort (under the tights is good for making the tights last longer!)

Thank you so much for all the ideas! I’m leaning towards fishnets or sheer patterned tights.

That jacket is quite a similar style to mine @Poshjock but mine is boring black!
