Help me find a new handbag - tote/shoulder bag style

I really need a new handbag - something smart enough to use for work and large enough to fit, at a push, a large notebook or my small laptop. I need one I can wear over one shoulder comfortably, with large enough straps that it can go over a bulky coat (my current bag is great in summer but the moment I'm wearing extra layers it becomes tricky).

Ideally, I like multiple compartments rather than just a big messy space, BUT... I suspect to get the shoulder strap thing I need more of a tote style. It might be a reason to finally buy all the multiple small inner bags I've been meaning to buy for ages Grin.

My budget is maximum £100.

Oh, few more criteria - black, tan, dark brown, grey are all options. Possibly red. I love blue but I wear a lot of black jackets etc in winter and always feel blue bags look weird.

No patent leather. Ideally I prefer a softer look and feel to something that looks very heavily structured.

I’ve just been idly browsing brand alley, you might find something there. It’s hard finding a long enough strap combined with being sturdy enough to carry a laptop while still being a bit softer. If you don’t mind Radley they have bags with compartments and longer straps.

Carrying a lap top and a soft unstructured look are problematic. Ideally you need a compartment for the laptop. I would look for an office type structured bag and that would look much smarter as it would keep its shape.

In general, bags by Massimo Dutti and Russell and Bromley are well made.

Yup - I'm conscious I'm asking for a lot! Grin

I don't want a super unstructured - I just hate those handbags that are so firm/structured that they're completely inflexible. will check out all brands recommended. Thank you.

I made the mistake of browsing the John Lewis website last night. Found about 6 bags I love. ALL outside my price range..... Sigh.

Did Mia tui used to be just Tui? I think that's my current bag. I like them but feel the straps might not be big enough.

Looking at all these....

Look at Yoshi bags, Meehan style, 3 main compartments, two button and one zip, really soft leather, straps big enough to go over coat
