Are these boots frumpy or not?

I've been looking for a pair of black, mid height black leather work horse boots I can wear for work with slim fit black trousers and skirts (semi smart office), I've already bought and sent back three pairs. I keep looking at these www.hush-uk.com/footwear-2/footwear/boots/whitby_ankle_boots-black-silver.htm and thinking 'I like them, but that heel is.....not quite right'. Thoughts?

They don’t look at all right to me.

What is that doing to the environment? Maybe go to a shoe shop instead?

I wouldn't say frumpy. They're just...weird Confused

I like the stud detail but prefer a chunkier heel

Awful they look cheap

Erm, not doing it for me either. Sort of trying to be edgy and not quite succeeding.

I like them!

I see what you mean about the heel, I wouldn't buy them for that reason too. There seems to be too much of a gap between the heel and the toe of the foot (if you see what I mean). It's difficult to tell in the photo of the model as its straight on

You can always return them and it could just be the angle of the photo!

I think they are nice, apart from the price

What's with the studs? They are a bit ugly - sorry OP but I don't like them.

The elastic bit always makes boots like this look Mumsy.
Not keen on the heel either

How will it help using petrol and driving into town , move along to an environment thread Hmm

@bigchris
You would think this didn’t need explaining but here goes:

If you go in-store you are far more likely to pick the correct size or decide definitively if you do or don’t like the shoe, thereby not needing to send it back multiple times which obviously has a carbon footprint.

We should all be more aware of our environmental impacts; i wouldn’t have necessarily mentioned it.

I think they look gorgeous from the front. I’m not too keen on the studs but I think they’ll look edgy in the office with the right clothes.

I personally don't like the stud detail. I wouldn't call them frumpy as I have a pair with a similar heel - but just recently on a number of occasions I have been reminded how old I am - firstly a 'youngster' gave me his seat in a bar, at the weekend I had a laugh and a joke with someone about the fact a club opens too late for us to go and lastly....I can't remember the last occasion. Senior moment. So on that basis - yes definitely frumpy.

Okay okay, thanks everyone with helpful feedback. I won't order them! I was blinded by the 'hush' thing as usually their stuff is quite funky. To those saying I shouldn't be ordering shoes at all. Sorry but my last pair are 5 years old and look crap, I work ft and prefer to spend my weekends doing stuff with the DC rather than driving to town, paying for parking and spending 3 hours traipsing about. Back to the hunt!

What the fuck has happened to Hush? Not only are the boots hideous, the other 'things you might like' that popped up when I clicked the link Shock were godawful!

They look like something you would get from Shoe Zone. They are not frumpy, they just look really cheap.

IMO ankle boots like that do not go with a skirt at all

Unless you live in a city, there are few shoe shops left if any in small towns. Often the internet is the only way of buying shoes unless you travel.

OP, have a look at other stories, they often have nice boots.
