Thanks Judy

Hoooo - loved your haiku on the Brexit thread Grin

Thanks for the new thread Judy. Good move to check cupboards before laying down stocks. As previously offered, if anyone needs kidney beans at any point in the next 5 years please PM me. I also discovered no less than 8 Christmas Puddings (some homemade), but I will be hanging onto these to provide cheer in the event of an actual ZA. (You made me laugh out loud Floof Grin).

(The great thing about Xmas pud (if like me you don't own a microwave) is that it takes sooo long to cook it deters casual snacking. Unfortunately the other sweet items from my stash appear to have been eaten already...).

I am worried about the HRT situation...and never mind the zombies, hope someone has done the impact assessment on abruptly depriving a huge cohort of women oestrogen...

Anyway, on a more positive note, I have accumulated enough perfume over the last few years to be pretty confident I will smell lovely right up to the collapse of civilization. Smile.

Maud - you have me well and truly sussed. MB India is a spectacular hit too! I convinced myself there was some cinnamon lurking as at points it reminds me of Fendi Asja and Halston Z14 (as well 80s Cuticura foot powder and Tyrozet throat lozenges. This is good as I love that medicated smell - not sure what's producing it here - presumably the resins/aromatics?). Also really love the dirty jasmine note.

Interesting to smell your India alongside Nuits Indiennes. Side by side the differences leap out - and the vanilla/cedar accord in NI suddenly smells a lot like Hyperbole? Both big on ylang, amber and resins though.

God, I LOVE Christmas pudding, mrsM! DP hates it, plus mince pies, so I never get it. He and I are so well-matched on so many things, but his raisin aversion is a killer.

Desert Island food stuff Judy Smile. Have perpetual yearning to smell like one too, but have never quite found something that hits the exact spot.

A few years ago M&S did stollen cookies as their Christmas biscuit. They were the best thing ever, and when they were reduced on Boxing Day DP bought up all the stocks for me. They lasted until July. I so wish they would bring them back, and get excited every year just in case. (Obviously they never will.)

Glad you're enjoying India! But OMG re: Tyrozets....maybe that's what I didn't get on with - I loathe those little suckers!

(Hope you don't mind that I passed it on, teta, but I had a sneaky feeling that MrsM would really appreciate it Grin)

Perhaps we should include Christmas pud in the world's most complex Venn diagram; I am a big fan. Captured by Candlelight is a pretty good Xmas pud 'fume...although it needs a bit more 'just snuffed-out candle smoke' imo.

Ugh.
Xmas pud?
I wouldn't wedge a door open with one 🤢
Glad you liked my poetry maud 😀
2 grocery orders arrived today.

Ffs.
I don't want to thinking about this shit.
I want to be wafting about in a housecoat and turban smelling marvellous...

hoooo you can come here and have Christmas with DP. I haven’t forgotten your decant, btw, just been mad busy with the first week of teaching. On Tuesday it was 3pm before I got to go for a wee.

Don't worry judy no rush x

I don't actually like much xmas food...not fussed on Turkey, loathe xmas pud, mince pies, marzipan (which I like to call Satan's playdough) and fruit cake....

I DO like Brussels sprouts though 😀

They sound good Judy. I'd sign a petition...

Maud - new set needed, agreed! Hope the very much missed Pest is somewhere out there groaning at the complexity (unless I have spectacularly missed a NC?).

Nearest I get is CbyC layered with Participe Passe.

MrsMoggs · 29/08/2019 22:03

Hooo - sounds like you'll be well set this Christmas when sprouts may just be the only thing in abundant supply Grin. No marzipan...so how do you feel about heliotrope?

I really fancy a turban (and smoking jacket).

Body - apologies - I need to get on the case. Will you PM your address please?

Thank you for the new thread and wonderful title, Judy.

I love MB India too, Maud! I greatly regret not having bought another bottle actually. I had been leaving it for the autumn chill but you've convinced me that I might need to get it out again now...

SOTD was Midnight in the Palace Garden. I can't tell anyone in real life but my DSis and her DP got engaged while we were on holiday, and I'm wondering if I can find her some really nice perfume for the event! She smells great in my beloved Chloe EDP Intense, which stopped smelling nice on me after I had children.

The only thing better than Christmas pud is mince pies! My favourite foodstuff. I start buying Xmas food items from September and putting them away (Christmas prepping Grin) but I can't buy mince pies as I just eat them all immediately Blush

This talk is starting to remind me of Christmas perfumes!! Opium anyone? The weather definitely seems to be changing to Autumn here, I'm wondering if it's too soon for tights and boots... On that note, in my winter clothes storage bags I actually do have a turban Winkand a long velvet housecoat. The turban is strictly indoor wear only Grin my house is cold and my ears get cold with no hair to cover them! I always think I need a cigarette in a long holder to match even though I don't smoke

Maud I've been meaning to ask you for ages, on that note, your user name is from Possession? I've not read that for years! Does she wear a green turban?

SOTD yesterday was a £5 Milton Lloyd jobbie meant to be a dupe of Chanel No. 5 apparently. I swear it comes out in a grey cloud and reeks of bathroom cleaner, but if you wait 5 hours the very end of the drydown is lovely HmmShame you can't bloody scrub it off in the meantime.

SOTD is Shay Blood Orange. I like this. Very elegant.

(I love the thought of us all waiting in for deliveries to stock up our Apocalypse supplies, whilst smelling gorgeous and wearing smoking jackets!)

It is, Floofy! When Roland first meets Maud, she is described as 'dressed with unusual coherence for an academic', which always tickled me, and is wearing green, white and 'a turban of peacock-feathered painted silk'...which I have always visualised as a rich, deep green. I love Possession and, weirdly, can even recite some of Christabel's poetry Blush (not that I ever need to!) For some reason it's a book that has stuck with me for a long, long time; I love Byatt's writing.

I’m not sure this will be anyone’s cup of tea, but I LOVE Tatty Devine, and this from the newly launched collection made me think of you all. I might get DP to bring it back from London when he’s there for the cricket in a couple of weeks instead of perfume.

Haha, love it judy Grin Buy it and think of us whenever you wear it.

Wearing Nuits Indiennes today - lovely stuff. Fabulous tonka, heliotrope and balsam - right up my boulevard. I was interested to see that the nose is Nathalie Feisthauer who was also responsible for ELd'O Putain des Palaces and Hermes Eau des Merveilles, both of which I really enjoy. (However it does also seem that she's been in charge of some proper stinkers as well...)

Popping by, as it a new thread (ex-member) to say it's way too early for Christmas. We haven't even hit the Autumn equinox. DH has become completely over-sensitised to smells so I read and remember.
