Dyson Airwrap. Worth it?

lpchill · 17/08/2019 23:04

I really want Dyson Airwrap. Husband is umming and moaning.

Please if you have it tell me what you like or don't like about it to help make a decision.

Husband wants something that will dry his hair. Me and my daughter need something to dry our hair without excessive heat/damage. I want it to also curl my hair without the excessive heat as i have medium bleach blonde fine straight hair so it's already damaged and I have to let my hair air dry as much as possible so I can use my flat iron to curl it. (Used curling tongs and rollers and it looks terrible)

I obviously don't want to spend that much money if it's snake oil so I need your opinions. wish I could go somewhere to try it!

Just to add husband is pretty intelligent but did just have to explain that my ghd straightners really damage hair.

Don't know - mixed reviews. Find out where you can test one out

It's brilliant at drying at curling. It doesn't smooth straight styles quite as well as GHDs so I still use those if I want a more sleek look. But all in all I am more than pleased with it.

Dyson is pro-Brexit and has moved his business overseas to take advantage of cheaper labour. I destroyed all of the dysons we owned and wouldn’t give him another penny.

^ how very environmentally friendly.

A tad dramatic?

I get the not buying anymore but filling landfill... silly.

I really like mine. I have shoulder length fine straight hair with the odd kink. I use the round barrel brush attachment which smooths my hair but not poker straight like ghds.

The curling tools are fab and it stays in far better than ghd curls.

Can you try it out in John Lewis?

Thanks all. Just want my hair to be healthier and look better. My GHD are good for straight but It doesn't suit me very well as having it curled.

I didn't realise I could test them out at John Lewis ?! Will have a look into it. Could I test them out at a big boots store(much closer to me)

QVC were selling it with 4 payments. Try it and return if you don't get on with it.

I hadn't thought about Boots but you might be able to.

Brought it. Tried it at John Lewis worked fantastically and stayed for ages (my poker straight hair never holds a curl for long without some hairspray) can't wait to take it home to play with it! Thanks everyone

I love mine - it makes it so quick and easy to do my hair and it doesn't damage it either so the condition of my hair is getting better and better with time. I am terrible with hair but as my friend said, when I used to take the time to do my hair at best it looked neat - now it actually looks styled.

Looks like you’ve already got it Grin but I’m another who loves it, I’d given up on using hairdryers and heat styling for years as they all made my hair super frizzy, no problems at all with the airwrap though I don’t use the straightening/smoothing brushes. Looking at reviews I think success is a lot to do with hair length and type - mine is medium length, coarse and ‘grippy’ and holds a curl well.

Luckily tried one from QVC. Wasn’t a fan of Dyson himself or his business but thought I’d give it a go. Seriously unimpressed after four weeks- no improvement in hair condition and the curl dropped out more quickly than usual, so back it went!

I love mine. You need to use product in order for the curl to stay in. But it definitely gives more volume with less damage and effort.

@BlackSwan - when you say product, do you mean like hair spray or mousse etc?

Report
DreamingofSunshine · 18/08/2019 18:05

@NoodlesMcGee I use mousse and spray the curls with hairspray after.

Love mine.

I use the smoothing devices. The trick is to brush under and the tension creates the smoothness. No heat damage and a bouncy smooth blow dry.
It doesn't do 'piecey' ends like ghds but I'd rather not have the fried hair.

( I have mid length thick bleached hair with natural kinks)

Exactly - something like that. I tend to use this Kerastase L'incroyable Blow-dry when wet, then a light mist of hairspray when dry.

I bet you are glad you bought yours, I bought the hairdryer first then my hubby bought my the hair wrap pack, not connecting that it would also have a hairdryer, he thought it was just the attachments 😂😂😂

Would be imminent, but the rest of the planet looks pretty fucked as well. I’m thinking of going a bit further. 🚀

This is a bit playing to the crowd isn't it, expect it's gone down like a lead balloon. Why would you destroy them? You could donate them, or do something else slightly more sustainable. This is just weird.
