Im looking for a warm-ish black coat to wear with chunky scarves in Autumn when it’s not cold enough to wear my quilted Barbour.

I like the look of this from Boden: https://www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/claudia-coatigan-black-charcoal-melange/sty-k0255-blk

Open to other suggestions too. It needs to be black & not belted.

If that was in navy blue I’d buy it myself!

happytobemrsg Tue 13-Aug-19 13:25:08

It’s lovely isn’t it Lemon

UpToonGirl Tue 13-Aug-19 14:31:21

It's really nice! I'm sure you would get a lot of wear it of it.

I'm on the lookout for one but preferably a bit longer and with a hood... Although I'm now tempted by this one.

I’m wondering if I should go with something warmer. Just very little choice out there right now!

UpToonGirl Wed 14-Aug-19 14:12:12

Yes, I think the Autumn collections are just starting to come into shops/online so if you wait there may be a few more options. I think it would be plenty warm for Autumn and warmer winter days and would be good for chilly spring days so I think it would be something you could wear a lot, just not on really chilly or rainy days.

Oh, that’s nice. I looked at it and went ‘wow, lovely, they do it in camel as well’ then clicked on the camel one and realised Boden had done its usual and ‘Per Una-ed’ it!

The page took a while to load, so at first the price said £0.00

grin

UpToonGirl Wed 14-Aug-19 15:25:06

Haha ilovecherries I did exactly the same thing!

I've got a navy Kew coatigan that I'm considering ditching but based on this post I think I'll keep it!

Iamthewombat Wed 14-Aug-19 15:35:13

It’s nice. I might buy it myself.

Iamthewombat Wed 14-Aug-19 15:36:40

I see what you mean about the camel one and Per Una though.

TheDogsMother Wed 14-Aug-19 17:28:19

Ooh I like this.

Beautifullymixed Wed 14-Aug-19 18:21:55

I love a coatigan, wrapped up all cosily, especially with a scarf, but not feeling bulky and sweaty (although that's my hormones blush).
This Boden one is lovely, but the price! No way! It's not even a proper winter coat, and I can't see how they can justify the price.
Although this one from Next is not black, the grey and chocolate are both stunning - and look at the price!
You could get two. wink
That's me sorted for this autumn I think, although I didn't know I needed one thanks OP. smile

Just looked at the camel version. Oh dear.

happytobemrsg Wed 14-Aug-19 18:53:39

I’m very tempted. I really like the grey panel too

HerRoyalNotness Wed 14-Aug-19 18:56:53

Ridiculous price and only 20% wool

CitadelsofScience Wed 14-Aug-19 18:59:46

Oh god am I alone in liking the camel one? I love camel but can't wear it near my face but I can wear red blush

sheshootssheimplores Wed 14-Aug-19 19:01:21

For those wanting a navy version, this from Hobbs looks very similar. Only available in a small though.

Any other cheaper black suggestions?? I need a black wool coat, no belt, to wear in Autumn with my new cashmere Burberry scarf

twosoups1972 Wed 14-Aug-19 19:32:56

I like the Boden one and the Hobbs one is a bargain.

I do find coatigans are not that warm though. Also, what do you wear underneath them? You can’t really wear a jumper or it’s too bulky...?

PrimalLass Wed 14-Aug-19 19:35:33

I have a black and grey version of that from about 10 years ago. It's really handy.

LemonAddict Wed 14-Aug-19 19:39:09

The Hobbs one is all sold out now, it was a bargain too sad

PrimalLass Wed 14-Aug-19 20:58:02

Have just realised that one is black and grey too. Mine has three different shades.
