Anyone know where I can get some nice maternity jeans (dark blue and straight leg, preferably with elastic in pockets rather than as a band all the way round my middle) and nice maternity bras (preferably without great big thick straps). I don't want to take a second mortgage out either! I am only 5 weeks but have already had to undo my top button of my jeans . Feeling very fat.

Thanks

the best jeans i have are from Old Navy, which i bought in San Francisco...you might find some on Ebay USA. DH commented that my bottom looked nice in them, unlike all my other maternity jeans. And they stay up on their own!

i'm considering braces for my others though...

i got prenancy/bf bras from mothercare which were pretty, this time last year , don't know what they've got in now but might be worth a look.

I have maternity jeans by Juicy, Earl and Citizens for Humanity. The jeans you describe are the Earl Jeans. I'd rather spend more on good fitting trousers which I feel comfortable wearing and like the look of. I am wearing these jeans for my second pregnancy too. Tops seem to be much easier and cheaper to get so I just get cheapy ones. I have also discovered belly bands which let you wear your normal jeans and tops for longer.
Also check our Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Next, Gap. They all do okish maternity wear!

I cheated and wore normal (ie non-mat bras), just made really sure they fitted properly - I changed sizes several times during pregnancy.

All mat jeans are shocking IME, I found linen trousers much comfier. Somethign about the weigth of the denim means whatever the cut they have trouble staying up...
Next are good because they do different leg lengths (I am lanky and need a Long)

The current Next catalogue has several pages of OK looking maternity gear - although I didn't look too closely.

Pop into Mothercare they had some lovely cotton ones in the sale. I wore them for 5 mths before and after they wash up a treat

I bought some nice Earl Jeans that were exactly what you're describing. I should really flog them here as I'm not using them anymore.

I bought the Cocoon bra from La Redoute and the straps are thin enough that I still wear them with strappy tops as I'm still bf.

I had 3 months of bf hell which I attributed to the fact that I wore normal underwire bras for most of my pregnancy. Next time round, I'm definitely wearing maternity bras from the start if I'm planning to bf.

Im only 4 mths so in that in between stage and found a bargain pair of jeans from new look. They have a elasticated pockets. And an adjustable band hidden inside so you can tighten or loosen idea if your newly pregnant as they dont fall down. It also came with a trendy thick silver belt all this for £12! And if you wear this seasons floaty tops you would never know they were maternity. Oh and they were blue and straight just what you ordered!

I found H&M and New Look good for maternity clothes. H&M seemed to do the boring basics, lots of trousers and New Look had funky tops. Noticed their maternity dept was still vg today when I wandered through.

New Look used to do nursing bras with 'yummy mummy' on the straps but I haven't seen then in months. H&M used to do nursing bras too. Actually am quite that they seem to have discontinued them.

nice maternity bras, in fact the only ones i found that fit, were comfortable and had some decent lift - if a bit pricey - by elle macpherson. definitely worth it for the later stages and breastfeeding. although i wore humungous sized non-maternity underwired bras in my second pregnancy.

but i don't do jeans.

Seraphine jeans look really good on but they do have an under-bump band. I think they also do a skinny jean with the elastic on the pockets. Have a look at www.seraphine.com plus they now have 10% off the non-skinny jeans (and I get loads of complements and other women asking about them when I wear mine)

I got the Emma Jane nursing bras. They're less than glam but not hideous. V comfortable.

I've bought my maternity jeans at Crave Maternity. I wore them about 4-5 months, and they still look great :)

the best maternity bras imo are anita as underwired. this one i found indispensible, have bought again and again as pregnant or bf-ing for 3 years. in fact i'm wearing it right now! J Brand and Paige do maternity versions of their jeans with elasticated inserts I bought early in pregnancy a size up and wore well into 'fourth trimester' too. Gap do a decent roll top maternity jean for the last bit when you no longer care how you look..Grin

Where do you get the designer maternity jeans - Paige, Citizens for Humanity, J Brand etc? Never noticed maternity versions of these in the normal jeans section (although to be fair haven't been specifically looking for them!)

this is an old thread!
I always like the topshop maternity jeans. I'm still wearing mine and I am no longer with child.

badkitty,

You can get J brand, CfH and Paige on both Mama La mode and Blossom Mother & Child. Including the J Brand skinny cargo pants.

Very lovely both of those sites and the prices will not thrill your DH (mine grumbles - only wearing for a short time, waste of money, get cheap ones etc etc). Which is all very well but you've got to feel good and look as smart as poss otherwise being pregnant can get you down.

Great, thank you! I love my Paige jeans, quite excited that I can get maternity ones!

All my 10!! bras were Elle McP (lots of changes required when BFing).
I liked the Maternelle ones especially but when I was BFing I needed the whopping great thick padded straps to hoist my gigantic boobs up.
You can get them in JL half price this time of year.
