I'm only 10 weeks and have outgrown all of my trousers apart from leggings and joggers (mmm) but am still too small for maternity stuff -I think- (plus can't bring myself to wear them when not even 3 months yet )
Any advice on what I can buy to tide me over? Nothing too expensive (if mega cheap then even better)as am sick of wearing leggings! Top half ok as have lots of smock style tops that still fit ok.
Have added pic to profile if there are any disbelievers of me being (I feel) huge at 10 weeks.
Thank you!

buy cheap trous in the next size up?

or take deep breath and go for matwear already - H&M seem to cut their trous quite snug

I wore next size up til I had enough of a bump, but have to say looking at your photo you could go for maternity wear - I know it's annoying so early on, but think of it this way - you will get plenty of wear out of it therefore easier to justify expense!

Linen trousers for that price? Wow, sold. WIl check them out. Was thinking along lines of drawstring type of thing but couldn't find any at the weekend. I have a few pairs of mat trousers in garage but don't want to dig them out just yet and be constantly pulling them up. I knew I should have kept all my stuff from pg with dd but was so desperate to see the back of them I got rid of 90% of it.

Confession, I bought a pair of Next mat trousers at weekend and they fit almost perfectly. There's a psychological block that won't let me wear them cos I keep thinking I'm only 10 weeks and shouldn't be showing!

well no, you shouldn't be

treat yourself to the linen trousers or whatever. You'll get wear out of them on the way down.

I bought 2 bumpbands when I was about 12 weeks - which, while pricey (£18.50 each), have meant that I am still able to wear my normal trousers - and at 31 weeks, that's not bad going!

It's saved me a fortune, as I haven't had to buy many maternity trousers.

They also keep the maternity trousers up that I have bought - the d@mnable things keep on falling down - even now!

I got a month or two more out of my normal jeans and trousers by using one of these.

Good for keeping too-big mat jeans up too

Awww look at that bump!!!! Mothercare do an early pg range. You're not carrying twins are you?!! Sorry, just thought I'd throw that in! On the other hand my manager looked about 4 months at 10 weeks (we guessed she was pg at about 8 weeks!) she said she's just got 'a big 'ole uterus'!!

i agree with the linen trousers in next size up and if nice weather continues they have some nice cropped ones in next for £15.
Other than that i have kept going with an elastic bobble threaded through the button hole and back on itself over the button which has helped me get to 17 weeks and still wear most normal trousers and best of all it's free, and they're fine with the smock tops as you can't tell they aren't fastened properly.

Lol 3ddonut, we did suspect twins cos I was so big but had early scan and only one there! Didn't happen with dd 4 years ago, was very petite but am making up for it this time . I'm size 10-12 so shouldn't be huge! My friend guessed when I saw her yesterday for this first time in a few weeks but I suppose it's quite hard to miss

when I was pg with dd2 top shop maternity had a lovely jersey skirt with a large foldover bit at the top, that was terribly comfy

when your friends go over to linen trousers from jeans, you KNOW an announcement is on the way...

I've heard it's quite common to 'pop back out' almost immediately when pg for second/subsequent times? May be wrong as I only have 1 DS, but have heard this, if that's any comfort?!

Haylstones · 31/07/2007 15:43

Ok so no to drawstring trousers then. I am certainly not petite. This is my 4th pregnancy (lost 2 early on though) so think my muscles are knackered. Give it time VictorVictoria, you will pop overnight lol

I lived in ones similar to these when I was pregnant. Bought a pair of brown and a pair of black ones and didn't wear hardly anything else. They're very good quality, don't look sporty, look smartish and last for a long time. And you can then wear the when not pregnant as well.

Thanks Lilyloo, I did wonder why you'd linked to the tunic top! Will have to go shopping. Maybe after 12 week scan (next week at 11 weeks...) I'll feel more confident and won't feel strange about wearing mat clothes, in the mean time I'll go shopping to get out of these bloomin leggings
