grrrr

I hate them ALL

they are either

Too long
Too flouncy (HOW many puffy sleeves does one need?)
Actually in fact dresses and not tops at all but pretending to be tops (and I am 40 so I am NOT wearing leggings OR mini dresses when not on holiday and they look plain stupid over jeans and anyway it's too hot for jeans most of the time)
Disgusting patterns
Horribly bright block colour
Maternity smocks
Vast ballooning batwingy things

I HATE THEM

Fashion is SHIT atm for oldies

However I do not want to go down the boden/jigsaw yummy mummy look or the dowdy m&s

Please let all this stupid toppery end soon

too long is good.

Most of the time tops are too farking short and ride up unattractively over one's mummytummy.

I tried on EVERY top in medium in Gap yesterday
all vile or too boring

But too long makes legs look stumpy
and I don't like wearing belts around them
Also accentuates muffin top

Well Gap is a dull shop anyhow
what do you want to look like, and whose dress sense do you like?

Report
CountessDracula · 20/07/2007 10:52

Well

I would quite like not to look like a teenager or an old granny

OK, so we know what you DON@T want to look like, but what about the positive angle - what or who DO you want to look like?

OK, I have no style so what do i know, and you will mock and deride, but IMO BHS have got something like a Range going on this season.

Have a go.

erm, just had a massive top splurge at Gap
most of it quite restrained, colour-wise, and nothing balloony.
was in west end, though

Peacocks is like Ethel Austin, CD. Not your kinda place

Try H&M instead they have some tops which are not flouncy/long and neither granny M&S nor Boden.
I know what you mean though, its hard to find classic/chic tops which are not boring.
Monsoon sometimes has tops which are bit simpler than the trndy shops.
