What trousers are you wearing? I think blue unless you are wearing black trousers?

Blue.

Excellent, was what I was tending to. Yes, they're v. dark blue jeans.

Are you planning to wear the jeans for the interview?

Most people in office wear smart jeans.

If you are wearing the jeans, do you have a more structured jacket? If not then blue.

I would not wear jeans. Really.

What job is it for? I’d not employ someone who turned up in jeans and a cardigan but it would depend on what level job it was. A carer - probably fine, a senior manager not.

Office job. I don't have a jacket. Not management. I have black jeans and blue jeans but thought the blue ones went better with the shirt as there's blue detail in it.

I’m getting twitchy at jeans for an interview, even if people in the office do. You need to be smarter for an interview.

Even if they wear jeans in the office, for an interview you would generally step up a level in smartness so I would say no jeans, preferably no cardigan either.

Is there anyone from whom you could borrow a jacket? Otherwise, there are surprisingly cheap jackets in Primark. You really might do better with a more formal outfit - even if not management!

I jeans then a blazer style jacket would better. The short cardigan would look ok with smarter trousers.

It’s likely to be warm so I wouldn’t worry about a jacket necessarily but definitely wouldn’t accept jeans for an office job unless it was somewhere like Kwikfit. Do you have plain black trousers you could wear with a shirt?

I second everyone else - even in a casual office you need to be smarter for an interview

It doesn't matter what people wear in the office, it matters what you wear for an interview. If you only have blue or black jeans, opt for the black.

And yes to a jacket.

An expression often used on MN is
Dress for the job you want.

Even if jeans are worn in the office the message from you will be "I'm not that bothered about getting this job"
The look is far too casual for a job interview.

I got an emergency interview jacket in Matalan for about 9 quid! It's just a softly structured plain black blazer and I paired it with narrow black trousers.
Have a look in places like that OP if you can't stretch to "proper" jacket.

Black jeans then? Plus jacket.

I wouldn't hire you based on that outfit regardless of how casual the office is.

Interview attire is important. I say that as someone who has filled four positions this past month.

Sorry the second outfit doesn't match at all and the blazer needs steamed.

OP we don’t know whether you’ve had to scrabble pennies together for the bus fare to the interview or could buy something new but just aren’t bothered. So I hope the thread as a whole doesn’t look un-empathetic.

I agree with @GeorgeTheBleeder, apologies if it reads as rude.

Do you own black trousers or a dress?
A plain top?
