Summer wardrobe

Ok so I am learning how to dress for my shape and what colours and cuts suit me but I need some advice.

Where can I buy nice summer sandals that won't fall apart in a week.
What type of clothing do you need for a UK coastal holiday.
Where can I find a swimming costume that supports my boobs and doesn't make me look like an elephant.
And most importantly where can I find fun comfy Pj top and short sets where the shorts cover more than just my backside.

I'm going away with friends and want to look nice.

What is your shape? What do you normally favour? How old are you?

Dressing for the UK coast can be more miss than hit weatherwise so it would be a good idea to take layers. Can you give a clue as to where you are going? I would pack very differently for Blackpool than I would for Southwold. I would go for some light culotte trousers, shorts and jeans, a mixture of long and short sleeve T-shirt's, a blazer, skirt. Take a summer dress or two just in case.

For sandals try Kurt Geiger. I also bought a gorgeous pair of gold leather flat sandals from Dune maybe three years ago and they are still going strong.

The most important thing is where is the coast? Cornwall requires very different packing to Shetland. If it's the latter get a good wind and rain proof coat, pack plenty woollen jumpers, jeans and trainers. You can do without sandals but 1 pair might be nice to have!

@tuttifritti I’m 24 and an hourglass shape but I’m also overweight so had a tendency to hide under boxy oversized shirts and jumpers and then I found a top I loved that actually fit me properly in a colour I’d never considered wearing and discovered I can look really good when I dress properly because I’ve a nice shape rather than just being a blob like I thought.

I suit coral coloured things, I can’t wear yellow or orange. I look better in bright colours and sometimes navy.

I’m going to Margate for a week with church friends.

Any ideas on short pyjamas. I have some but they’re too short to be suitable for a weekend with people from church 😂

I'm generally quite happy with the way I look but the people I'm going away with the girls are a size 8 and a curvy size 12 and I'm an 18 with a wobbly stomach and boobs that refused to be contained. Two of the guys are very very fit and the other is just happily average. So anything I can do to look better will help me to not stick out so much.

Tesco have 3/4 leg pj bottoms which might be a better bet for a weekend away with church mates?

@Atalune, ooh thanks for the heads up about tesco I hadn't thought about there. I know the girls won't care and two of the guys won't well one might be a little but he regularly walks around in his boxers so he doesn't get a vote and the other is always too busy looking down my top to notice anything else. It's mainly for the third guys benefit tbh. I don't want him to be uncomfortable.

I'm listing all of these suggestions and sites down so I can go through them easier later.

For the PJs, you could just take your normal ones and a light floaty dressing gown to cover up when wandering to and from the shower etc if that's your main concern? I have nice ones from John Lewis and Boux Avenue that I always take when going away. Otherwise, Primark do nice cotton PJ shorts that aren't bum-skimming.

For swimsuits, ones with bra sized cups are better for support. Try Bravissimo, though not cheap!

If weather is predicted to be hot then you will want walking sandals. Otherwise trainers or comfortable strong shoes. Nothing ruins a holiday faster than sore feet!

So I definitely second the bravissimo recommendation for swimwear. I also like Pour Moi which would be good for a young'un like you.

There have been great suggestions here like taking a simple palate of clothes. H&M would be good for not too boring but nicely simple T-shirt's

@LaDameAuxLicornesIt's, I'm more concerned about me lounging around the house in PJs (we're renting a cottage) but I'll look into the floaty dressing gowns anyway because I need one that isn't fleecy, and primark for some cotton shorts as well.

I'll have a look at bravissimo as well because my boobs have a mind of there own and too big to just be bunged into a normal costume.

I'd not thought of looking at H&M so I'll have a look there as well. I've no idea what clothes my friends will be taking either tbh as we're horribly unorganised.

Ooh you'll be able to do a lovely capsule wardrobe based around coral, navy, denim and maybe white. A deep coral Mani/pedi will set everything off, and I agree with pp re retro/50s style swimwear, and layering. I've had cute short PJs from gap previously. H&M have some nice white and navy things at the moment - I'd go for the cotton's rather than synthetics.

What's a capsule wardrobe @palahvah? I've never had my nails done but I think we're planning on doing some sort of water based activity I'm not sure it's a good idea.

I'd not thought about looking retro before but I think the style would probably be flattering.

@Slaymill, yeah I can pull off blues in most shades. Blues, teals and navy, red, corals and white/ivory with a bit of gray can work quite well for me. I only really go swimming during the summer so it doesn't really need to work year round. I'm allergic to chlorine so wait till the seas warm enough. I'll have a look at the other links now
