Think DP is getting me this for my birthday. I want simple - probably a plain v-neck in pale grey, something like that.

Where from????

omg mrsb, brora are fabulous. don't know whether to thank you or curse you.

there is a polo neck in teh sale. i am size 12 but they only have 14 do you think it would be too big?

thomcat Wed 18-Jul-07 16:23:34

MrsBadger - you are the dog's wotsits and always there with an answer. You seriously rock

MrsBadger Wed 18-Jul-07 16:25:28

not sure re sizing - have never been flush enough to order from them
what's their returns policy? cpuld you get it and send back if too big?

(NB do not get poloneck if you are norkularly gifted, stick to v-neck idea.)

thomcat Wed 18-Jul-07 16:28:32

ahhh, but they have very limited colours and sizes left.

The grey v-neck they have is only available in a 10 and I need a 12, actually 14 might be better.

Anywhere else?

chevre Wed 18-Jul-07 16:29:10

norks are d but a deflated d so can just about get away with it.

sorry for the hijack thomcat. let us know if you chose something.

thomcat Wed 18-Jul-07 16:29:43

Ohhh wouldn't want a roll neck anyway they just irrite me. I'd go for a classic scoop neck or a v-neck or even a plain little cardi. Just want classic chuck on styley.

thomcat Wed 18-Jul-07 16:30:27

chevre - hijack away

LaCerbiatta Wed 18-Jul-07 16:39:09

OMG they're so expensive!! I bought one from Tesco's last year, reduced from £40 to £20 and it is great. Very nice, flattering cut, 100% cashmere, black polo neck. They had lots of v-neck ones. I would never even have looked there, but the lady that 'did my colours' recommended them saying they were great and she was right. I'm definitely keeping my eye out for they winter collection!

CountessDracula Wed 18-Jul-07 16:43:27

ooh yes brora
dd had a baby brora cashmere cardi it was heaven!

you know what tc
if you want real plaino one you could do worse than uniqlo!

thomcat Wed 18-Jul-07 16:59:49

CD - those Uniglo ones aren't REAL cashmere though, are they? It says 'Sourced from the finest long, bright white fleeces, our cashmere sweaters are incredibly soft and elegant. ' I want a decent quality one that I can wear to death if I want to.

Has to be plain, v-neck, i'm thinking not too tight, quite like a bit of a slouch sloppy joe type of feel to it, like I've borrowed my DP's jumper type of look maybe? Somehing that looks good with keans but I can wear with pj bottoms round the house.

coddy Wed 18-Jul-07 17:02:32

what the deal with cahsmere?

MrsBadger Wed 18-Jul-07 17:03:44

cashmere with pj bottoms?

hope your drycleaner's cheaper than mine...

LaCerbiatta Wed 18-Jul-07 17:05:27

Why aren't they cashmere? It says 100% cashmere, can it be anything else?

MrsBadger Wed 18-Jul-07 17:07:35

the uniqlo ones are real cashmere.

the price diff betw (eg) Brora and Tesco/Uniqlo is apparently the length of the fibres. Short-staple yarns are much cheaper but go bobbly quicker - long-staple yarns are more expensive cause they're harder to make but stay smooth much longer.

CountessDracula Wed 18-Jul-07 17:08:04

They are cashmere tc!

DH's nicest one is from JL actually

chevre Wed 18-Jul-07 17:11:43

cashmere feels just lovely. i had a black one i wore to death when i was pregnant.

coddy Wed 18-Jul-07 17:14:18

but the sytles on tat brora site are dull

bossykate Wed 18-Jul-07 17:15:48

brora styles are classic. at those prices they're an investment buy, so imho you wouldn't want something on trend.

coddy Wed 18-Jul-07 17:17:00

youve ll lost it

francagoestohollywood Wed 18-Jul-07 17:26:39

just to irritate cod, I'd say go for the most expensive ones. Try Pringle of Scotland (kidding obviously. Didn't the white company use to sell cachemire jumpers?)

Tamum Wed 18-Jul-07 17:30:20

Uniqlo ones are quite nice and v. good value but don't feel all that different from lambswool necessarily (they seem to vary a lot). Now Brora....

florenceuk Wed 18-Jul-07 17:50:48

I've got a vague recollection that Boden was doing a 100% cashmere v-neck in the autumn preview but of course TC has been extremely rude about Boden in the past so perhaps not the best choice. Other online cashmere purveyors are Pure, pure collection and Lands End (although only summer colours at the mo) purple v-neck? - which has gotten good reviews for the quality if you don't mind "classic" look. I can't link to Cashca cos my work browser is so outdated but they might be worth a look. You may need to wait for winter stock though. White Company definitely do cashmere but once again may need to wait for autumn stock.

I've got a grey Tesco one.
