I'm a bit plump, can I get away with a jumpsuit?

Cause I love them, but am scared of them 😂

Am approx a 16, but with a fair sized tummy after child #3. Am working on that though. I carry my weight well as am quite tall, but as I have fairly short hair I do worry about looking stumpy.

I'm about 5'8".

What do you reckon, jumpsuits/playsuits only for the slender?

Try a few on. I'm size 14 and bought a linen mix playsuit from Tesco yesterday, it looks really nice on. DH seldom comments on my clothes but this morning he suggested I buy another one! This style of clothing doesn't usually fit tight on the waist so you may well find something lovely.

I'm bigger than I've ever been at somewhere between a 12 and 14 and am a recent convert to jumpsuits. They are definitely more flattering from the front than the back but I'm really enjoying wearing them.

They don't look great on anyone imo. Make everyone look about two stone heavier.

Olivia Coleman looked great in the blue velvet Fold jumpsuit. If you a a little overweight there are worse types of clothes to draw attention to it.

I think playsuits can look good if you have a waist or are dead skinny. Basically do you still go in at the middle? I love playsuits too but would have lose a good couple of stone (also a 16, but no clear waist) before I could get away with one.

I too am tall and plump (5”11 and size 14/16). I like the look of jumpsuits but they give me the most hideous camel toe. So beware!!!

I'm just getting into them too. I bought a Hush one in the sale and it actually is flattering - and I'm similar to you OP, tall, 14-16, short hair. I have a big bum and thighs and the jumpsuit actually makes them look smaller. I think this only works because it's loose and has a tie waist - it would not be flattering if it was tight or stretched anywhere IYSWIM.

I'm also scared though and haven't worn mine outside the house yet :o

I was worried about camel toe with mine as I'm long-bodied but it's fine amazingly. You do need to try some on and see what you think.

I am size 16 and 5' 2" so would look like an oompa Loompa. As you are tall, you might be ok. Get a decent one though, nothing cheap with flimsy fabric, badly cut or weird patterning.

Surely it depends how you feel when you're wearing one. I'm a size 12 with a long body and short legs and have yet to find one that suits me, so I don't wear them. Some people who are much bigger than me look great in them. If you want one and feel.good in it, then wear it

Like dresses, you just need the right one! I have three and love them.

The poster who said they make everyone look two stone heavier is hanging out with bad dressers! I won’t comment on my own looks as I’m obviously being lied to by everyone who has complimented them, but I’ve seen them flatter various friends with very different body shapes and my mum rocks one too.

I am waiting to receive a Hush order, including the short play suit. It certainly looks flattering on the model, but she’s taller and a size smaller than me. It has a low waist which I think is more forgiving if you’re on the larger side. I can’t see the other one doing any favours in a size 16.

I’m a similar height, normal proportions and they just don’t fit the length of my body- not enough space between crotch and shoulder. So maybe try topshop tall etc

Short hair and plump will work great with a jumpsuit, I wouldn’t worry about that. They don’t make bums look small but that’s okay!

I think you need to try some on because so much depends on your proportions and how your weight is distributed as to how one will look. I don’t think it’s so much weight but your shape that will be the deciding factor. I love them but haven’t found one that fits ok due to very short waist and big boobs but I’ve seen more women wearing them round and about and they can look amazing.

I am pretty fat atm but the right jumpsuit looks as good as anything can on me these days. I do go in in the middle, so hourglass shape, but have a fair size tummy. My mum is brutal with her feedback so it’s definitely flattering as she approves.

Agree with Mary - you just need the right one that you feel you look good in and feel confident in as with anything. I'm by no means tall or willowy, I wear them and feel great in them - I think so much is how you carry it off! Be bold and try one.

I'm an 18/20 and I have a few, I like ones that tie at the waist because they cinch me in.

I’m a size 14/16 5’3 and have tried a few. The short leg play suits don’t work for me and I would consider my legs my best asset (I’m a busty Apple). I’m trying a crop wide leg next from Gap. A Hush tapered leg was ok but way too long.

My experience of jumpsuits is that they are alchemy. I am a solid 16 (long body, short legs, belly but banging knockers) and 5ft3. I tried on a jumpsuit in Phase 8 for shits and giggles (we had the same name) fully expecting to look like SuperMario. My Ma and I stared into the mirror in total wonder. I looked taller, thinner, elegant, sexy, you name it! Every time I have worn it I have had compliments and double takes. I have bought several more and, quite frankly, I fully intend to be buried in one of them.

I’ve just checked and my first jumpsuit isn’t there anymore but either the Andrea or the Victoriana (with cap sleeves not frilly ones) are close. They have a whole jumpsuit section here:
