Best classic leather jacket

Hi can anyone recommend a leather jacket that won't go out of fashion...if there is such a thing. I'm quite tall with very long arms and small of boob. Budget is small also... is a leather jacket a classic item that I could wear all year round? Quite like the idea of wearing it with spring/summer stuff jeans and long skirts?

I am also interested- lots of people usually recommend All Saints but they are very very expensive.

I think it’s worth getting a real leather one (unless you are opposed to wearing leather). You could try getting one on sale. Jigsaw usually have nice ones too.

I love Mango leather jackets and I have one from esprit that's gorgeous. Neither is budget busting if you figure out what style you want.

All Saints do a leather jacket (I don't know if it's only at their outlet shops) that's £200, I've got 2 leather jackets from there previously (now selling) and this one is much softer. Also, at their outlet stores they sometimes do 30% off of everything so I got it for £140.

Muubaa do lovely jackets and can often be found in discount stores like TK Maxx and Everything5pounds. I bought one of their bikers from Brandalley circa 2011 and it’s still going strong.

Wait for the sales and then go to AllSaints.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I will check out all your recommendations. Maybe I should save for one and then look in the sales as I think I'm wanting real leather. The JD Williams one is nice but I think I'd like one with a collar, maybe one with a collar is more 'classic'? I really like mango clothes so will look there too.
Do you dry clean leather jackets or are they just 'wipe down'? Was wondering what you do if the lining gets smelly from wearing with summery tops etc.

Do you mean more like classic biker?
This to me is a classic biker jacket, but maybe it's a personal thing. www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-vixon-biker/?colour=5&currency=GBP&nst=0&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxILEw8DM4QIVY7HtCh1D1w72EAQYBSABEgJtnfD_BwE
I bought my leather jacket... maybe 8 years ago and it's still going strong! So worth investing in one and get real leather, unless you object.

I got a classic style/cut biker jacket from River Island via ASOS in the sale for less than half price (it was about £80 I think) - I dithered for ages over it but so glad I got it. It fits like a dream, is super soft and comfortable (and surprisingly warm for a cold evening) and I get compliments every time I wear it - over a dressier outfit or chucked on with jeans, converse and a t shirt. I bought it fully expecting to send it back but it felt amazing the moment I put it on. Have heard very good things about All Saints too but if too pricy, I'd try to get to the ship, try a few on then wait for sales or follow on eBay for a second hand one. Personally, I love the biker style and think they're a classic piece to go with loads of looks. Mine has got softer and better with each wear - I don't treat it with too much TLC as want it to look worn in!

No I don't believe there is. Even classics go out of fashion - what singles them out is that they come back time and time again.

Leather jackets aren't a fly-by-night trend but every decade tends to have its defining shape. In the 70s there were lots of 3/4 length coats. In the 80s they were oversize with massive shoulders - and there some bikers around too. I can't remember anything about them in the 90s so they may have slipped off the radar altogether. In the noughties we had leather blazers - now if ever a style was going to be a wear forever classic, that one surely was.

Bikers have already been going strong for most of this decade and, while I'm not suggesting they're about to disappear, I think they may have peaked. If I was on a strict budget I would think carefully about spending a lot on one at the moment. I would either buy a fake leather or I'd look for a good second hand.

Look on face bay, ebay and 2nd hand sites like Shpock. I'd go for a biker style one. I've had one since I was 16, I'm now 37 and still wearing it although my 14 year old has taken a shine to it.
I also picked up a tan biker style on in tk maxx in June last year for £20 on the sale. Tkmaxx is great for leather jackets and as long as it's real leather it will last.

I can’t see biker jackets ever going out of fashion, they’re a classic. Mine was from Jaeger four years ago and I wear it with just about everything.

Reiss have nice ones but pricey at almost £400.

All Saints have got a sale on at the moment. Also, if you've got an outlet shop near you they usually have further reductions.

I managed to pick up a leather jacket from Tu at Sainsburys, in their premium range! It is gorgeous, soft leather - biker style, black but they also do in navy and grey I think! It was £99 but with their 25% offer I saved a bit (and this is on right now!)

I love mine!

I got a lovely one from Oasis. Cheaper than All Saints and as nice I think.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. Think I'll keep an eye out online on sales but won't invest too much in case the biker style is nearing its end for a while. Maybe a denim jacket would be more suitable for summer? I did try and get one last year... ordered a Zara one which fitted well but smelled awful, like a wet dog- even after washing!

I’ve been looking for one for ages, I don’t wear leather and just couldn’t find one that looks right.

Then on a whim I bought this one, it’s completely different to what I would normally buy, what with it being yellow but it looks so good! Really good quality, and such a good price. They have a black one too.

Honestly I was shocked when it arrived and it was lovely because I instantly regretted buying it.
