So.....what are we wearing this autumn?

As summer seems to be non-existent this year (and depressingly some of DD2's lovely summer clothes have still got their tags on!) my thoughts are turning to autumn/winter.

What goes? (DCs and adults)

Eh? I am off to France in 3 weeks. I will then worry about school shoes, uniform etc. then I will get on to autumn clothing.

bugger off - I am determined to have some sort of summer before being dragged into autumn discussions.

I have already sorted the dc's winter uniform [smug emoticon]

I'm looking forward to getting out of maternity wear and into some nice knitwear.

I hate really hot weather.

DS's is semi sorted. He will need new trousers and new shoes. But I am not buying the shoes now. But with any luck he will still be in shorts in September....

I am going to America next Fri for 3 weeks for a bit of sunshine (we must go where we can find it!)

Don't you find, though that all the best stuff for autumn/winter seems to come out right after the summer sales? After that, it's all christmas party wear and you can't get a decent coat or 'owt (that hasn't got fur/velvet/lurex on it somewhere)

see what you're saying. But I have no clue what there will be around this autumn. I do need a new coat. I have one from Zara with a major flaw - the buttons are really heavy so they are forever coming off, and I am always sewing them back on. Fortunately they tend to tinkle (are metal) when they drop off so I don't lose them.

i do have a yellow mac but I don't think yellow is very autumnal.

I think I tried that coat on last winter, Bozza.

Fortunately (for me ) one of the buttons was already hanging off, which alerted me to the design flaw.

I want to get DD2 a yellow mac-type jacket. You know, one of those oilskin types with a cotton lining. I have seen a nice petit bateau one, but it was about 50 quid . DD1 had one from La Redoute about 10 years ago, but I can't find them anywhere. Any suggestions?

Yes same here. I just got another coat from the rack. In fact, I actually searched through them. You are obviously of superior intellect and I am a bit of a numpty.

I will mostly be looking for a tweed coat (am fed up of black wool)

I don't want pink, I don't want lilac. I don't want characters, spotty or flowery. I can't have blue because she has a short bob, and people will think she's a boy (sad, but true)

I just want a yellow rubbery rain jacket with a nice cotton lining. But I will not pay 50 quid for one (even though it is exactly what I am after)

Surely it's not too much to ask?

oh god I don't know

I am still in "I have put on weight but am I going to wing it or do I need to buy new clothes" limbo

I would imagine there will be a lot of smockery with jeans and trousers and long sleeved tops under the short sleeved smocks

FirenzeandZooey · 12/07/2007 12:27

Oh and I need some of those swing cardies

anyone seen some?

Report
Tutter · 12/07/2007 12:27

Report
Tutter · 12/07/2007 12:27

franny they are great (swing cardies)

leave it with me...

Report
HolidayboundHorsewoman · 12/07/2007 12:28

OH NO!

Was hoping we would be moving away from smocks. You can't move for smocks, atm and I will NOT (and can not) wear such things, vertically challenged as I am.
