Does the ankle strap turn people off?

3 definitely. I think there are very few people who can pull off an ankle strap, especially in a flat shoe.

With regard to the ankle strap comment, I wore these all last summer and got loads of compliments on them. I'm fairly partial to an ankle strap.

What are your feet like? I've spent all day trying on very similar sandals, but I have very wide size 7 feet. So while I might say number 3 are the nicest (on the model) in real life they'd look nicer in a lighter colour. Although black look nice with tanned feet.

Schuh has some nice grey/khaki kind of colour ones which again, I looked at longingly, but they did nothing for my feet!

No 1 or 3. The middle one with the black ankle strap and buckles has too much going on and straps are too thick, unlike your lovely shoes from last year. On the white they look a little less harsh so you could pull those off. Have you tried them on?

I like the look of the ankle strap but would be worried about the leather rubbing on my ankle, it also makes them a lot harder to put on, the joy of Birkenstocks for me is that they slide off and on so easily!

I'd be worried about the toe thong rubbing too (sorry to be negative!)

1. I have had that style in a few different colours and it's lovely. No rubbing from the toe bit because it's soft leather rather than plastic like a flip flop
