Comfortable and cosy clothes for sick days

I'm spending most of my time in bed or other the sofa at the moment as I have ME. In the morning (which is my best time of day) I manage a shower, get DCS out of the house, do the school run then collapse back into bed. Jeans are too restrictive so I've been living in leggings and hoodies. I can't wear pjs out of the house! Any suggestions for nice soft clothes please that won't make me look like a bag lady? I can't manage makeup at present.

I love harems with long sleeve long line tees. Cosy socks and a big scarf or boyfriend cardigan.

Ooh yes, I have harems - great idea!

I have cfs/ME. Get yourself a hot water bottle or two. Make it up and put it in the bed before you go out on the school run. It's really helpful for muscle aches and comforting.
Not what you asked I know but it'll make whatever you wear feel nicer.

I can't help as I wear pjs in the house. Big loose fluffy socks are a must. Ones that are fleece lined are really good. Think totes do some. FlowersBrew

Those joggers look perfect- and wearable outside. Thanks!

I love the hot water idea - perfect as DH bought me a new one yesterday.

I work from home a lot and have started wearing comfy clothes... I recently got some nice slim leg joggers from ASOS, and also some jersey trousers from M&S. The slim, tapered legs make them look ok for outdoors too.

I am chronically ill and have recently discovered that Lucy and Yak dungarees are literally like walking around in PJs, throw a Breton top or a cashmere jumper underneath and it looks ok.

Hush Amie joggers.
Really comfy like PJs but look good. Not cheap though.

I love the idea of the dungarees! What colour do you have @Momzilla82?

I am the same - have poor mobility and want to be comfortable but a tiny bit smart. I was actually going to start a post because I'm looking for plain joggers that look like trousers.

I used to buy joggers from fat face - they were between a straight leg and a boot cut and made of very smooth cotton. From a distance they looked like normal trousers. Of course they don't make them any more. I wish companies would let us know when they are discontinuing something so we could stock up! My last pairs are falling apart at the seams and I'd love to find something similar - but ankle cuffs look awful on me so the hush ones are a no here!

I quite like lands end - they are decent quality and plain looking if not mega trendy. I like the slim leg starfish pants - though they are not a great shape for apples, I need to size up for my waist and then there is too much fabric in the bum area.

Super soft jeggings with knotted ballet style wrap tops. If you have big boobs pop a contrasting vest underneath to cover cleavage. Flat ankle boots or pumps.

Also soft chunky slouchy roll necks over jeggings (or leggings if they're your thing). I have one with 3 red stripes, burgundy, dark red and bright red. I wear it with my purple suede boots and feel really put together.

That was suppose to say knitted not knotted!
In the summer I wear dresses like this, they look quite put together with nice sandals, and a bit of make up. I like them because they skim my tummy (Crohn's disease) and that's where I hurt. I find a nice pair of big pants underneath and I'm good to go. T shirt or jumper dresses (in winter obvs) are my favorites also, the other bonus is that it's one item and then you don't have to think about anything else.

I actually have quite a few things already I can wear. Today I've put on a thick chunky roll neck jumper with cashmere wrist warmers underneath and blaclick harems. Have ordered soft dungarees and also eyeing up ballet cardigans online. I have a few jersey dresses/ tunics which are good with leggings and long cardigans. Hoodies are annoying lying down so oversized jumpers are better.

It sounds like you're on a roll op! I love oversized jumpers.

bustergonad where is the dress in your pic from? I love it.
Can you recommend any t-shirt or jumper dresses that aren't tight on the tummy?

H&M, from the summer. They are called v neck t shirt dress, viscose. This actual one was a limited edition Anna Glover X but they do/did plenary of other designs. They come up big!

My jumper dress is from Oasis, it's a roll neck jumper dress and I love it. I've had a few from there in the past and also TopShop My t shirt dresses are from Espirit and Sugar Hill, and I've had a few long sleeved ones from TopShop too. I favor a shift style as I don't like tightness on my tummy. I'm also a huge fan of a belted shirt dress. Once again Oasis.

This thread is bad for my bank balance. .. I have ordered a pair of Lucy and Yak dungarees reduced from £50 to £30. Black cord so would be fine outside too. I also ordered some cheap cotton dungarees from eBay. Thankle you for cheering me up when I feel ill and a bit hopeless xx

In the winter, thick leggings and a jumper dress
In the summer, linen wide leg trousers and a loose top

spanishwife · 14/02/2019 11:35

If you're quite trendy you could do a knitted co-ord (see Zara and Asos) with white trainers, chuck a trench coat or leather jacket over
