mineral make-up is ace. Have you got the base powder?

p.s. we've all got hairy faces - some are just more furry than others! Shouldn't matter though if you blend it right

According to an upmarket makeup artist I met yesterday (bundle can work out who I am and where I met this person -- I'm in hiding for no good reason) mineral makeup is made out of...
crushed pearls
Honestly. What a load.

I think some of them have some crushed pearl in

most of them are based on mica and zinc oxide etc
ie rock

I love the way people talk about mineral makeup: 'ooh, it's sits on top of your epidermis so you can sleep in it'
As if we don't all sleep in our makeup anyway
Huge black blotches on my pillow, at any rate

I'm a bit backwards when it comes to sciencey bits. Any pearls in there?

lol

In most pearls, the mineral aragonite is arranged in sheets of flat, six-sided crystals. Between each sheet, the mollusk secretes a very thin layer of the membrane-forming protein conchiolin. This composite material is called nacre ("NAY-ker") or mother-of-pearl. The crystalline structure of nacre reflects light in a unique way, giving so-called nacreous pearls their high luster. In contrast, some pearls are not nacreous and instead have a low-luster, porcelainlike surface. The needlelike crystals of aragonite in these pearls are arranged perpendicularly or at an angle to the surface of the pearl.
