M&S shoes

Does anyone know if M&S shoe sizes are reliable? I bought a pair of work shoes there a couple of years ago and the size 6 was huuuuge so they were completely unwearable even with insoles (though of course cunningly comfy when tried on in the shop).

Is this one of the things that you should just know about Marks like being able to get into a 10 there not meaning that you've lost loads of weight?

Anyway, Ive just seen these on This Morning but I swore I'd never buy shoes from M&S again (still bear the scars, Footglove my arse).

Or anyone seen any nice ballet pumps in colours for under £20?

Oh yes I like the buckle on those.

So, size-wise though was I just unlucky? Does everyone else just buy their normal size? Those shoes really ripped my feet to shreds. Had to go barefoot most of the day at work and yet still I perservered "breaking them in" until I'd gone through umpteen boxes of blister plasters and almost crippled myself with the effort of keeping them on my feet.

M&S shoes haven't worked for me either - a pair of their black ballet pumps ripped my feet to shreds recently too. I find (and have heard others saying too) that they really nip the back of your ankles - whatever the style of shoe. Most shoes don't agree with me though, I would really rather go barefoot!

Ok, have been in to check out the shoes and M&S shoe sizes are indeed large, or at least size 6 is

Everywhere else in the shoe universe size 6 = European size 39 but not in M&S oh no siree. M&S size 6 = European size 39.5, WTF????

And they had no size 5.5 in stock which is 39 so no sale which was a shame because the pumps were really nice irl. Anyway the packs of gel pads to prevent rubbing hanging at the end of every row of shoes hardly filled me with confidence.

Bookthief, I have these in black, size 5.5. They did not agree with my feet, and I have no further use for them, so if you would like to try them you are very welcome to them!

That's really kind Tatties but I reckon they'll do the same to my feet. Have decided to just steer clear of M&S shoes.

It's the principle - 39.5 fgs
