This is week SIX of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Thank god for the veil! I really need it after a weekend of terrible bingeing.

Today out for a five mile run and working hard on redressing the balance. Back to basics no wheat, red meat or dairy and plenty fo fresh fruit and veg. Water and walking will rule this week.

Am bowing out now due to ever morphing "party" for ds (now they are watching Dr Who by torchlight apparently although thank goodness the disco has died a quiet death)
Definitely need to up the ante this week Walking got off to a good start but watching dd scamper in ever decreasing circles at her sports day this afternoon doesn't really count as exercise!
A good week to all esp MI, prufrock and winnie

Batters, yes you are right, I am SO annoyed I can't make it, was really looking forward to it. Oh well.

Batters - tell me that isn't 4500 steps THIS MORNING????? How did you do that???

Marina, hope the party goes well - we had ds1's on Saturday and it was WILD. The kids went totally mad, but had a 'WICKED TIME MUM'. Ds1 had 18 friends, but not at home I hasten to add, we went to his gymnastics club, which was fantastic. It's the first one we've done outside the home, and it was so worth it not to have the clearing up at home afterwards! Was shattered at church yesterday though, I think I actually did fall asleep in the sermon, and was struggling not to topple off the organ bench.

Batters and I both have a walk from a mainline station through the City tortoiseshell. It is all too easy to catch a later train and tell yourself you'll make the time up by catching a bus (IME)
Walk for me is in fact 20 mins and I often overtake queues of buses stuck in traffic

Ah I see! You are excused in that case batters and marina (thought was a bit TOO keen ). Btw marina, just been to GP with dd, she has a virus which obviously as a panicking mum I did NOT consider as an option. Her glands are huge! GP said 'she'll probably be off her food for a while'. Er, or not . It would take a nuclear bomb to put dd off her food!

Batters - I know the reason that DH has not been giving me an answer re: Sat now. He has been trying to arrange a "surprise" gettogether but it looks like that may not be happening anyway. He has just emailed them to get a final decision so will definitely ley you know today. Feel bad as I had a go at him and he was doing something nice for me! Ah well, will make it up to him.

Had a fab, fab time with friends on Sat night. Terrific meal and lots to drink. Have lots of dinners in the next 3 weeks - will be hard to stick to some of the rules.

Off to gym now.

This week I am going to be so virtuous

Bleugh!!!!!!!!!!
Pigged out last night on strawberries, baby meringues and biscuits all dunked in that yummy M&S chocolate dip they keep advertising. It was in the name of Father's Day and very nice but I have been suffering ever since - too much sugar gives me a gripey tummy and seriously bad wind (sorry if TMI ) and I think I have a sugar-rush hangover today as am feeling particularly sluggish.
However I have done 4000 steps on the pre-school run (with another 4000 beckoning this afternoon) and am sitting here with a bottle of water so its not all bad.

Here's to a good week!

I have been fairly virtuous despite having had a MN break for the last fortnight and bingeing a bit at summer fair on Sat (can't resist those hotdogs and onions...)

I have started walking to work from the station which ups the step count on the moron and has made me feel better and perkier in general.

My big weakness at the moment are M and S chocolate covered brazil nuts which must be about amillion calories each. Have to put my blinkers on to go past them.

Marina did you get my email? Dr Who by torchlight sounds fab (FLAMING torches, I trust?)

Yes I did puddle, I must round up the leaflets too and send the whole lot off (and replying would be good too!)
sugar is known for doing that to you, especially if you normally try not to eat much
Yoyo, aren't dhs just the pits for wrong-footing you like that. I was mildly huffy that I WON us a holiday and then ORGANISED the whole kit and caboodle logistically and was just building up a good head of steam when dh organised something really generous and appreciative to say thanks [the skunk].
Hope all works out right in the end

I started young down the lavender path batters - first celeb crush was none other than Derek and my first boyf was gay but there is something just slightly too cheesily twinkly about John Barrowman for me. He is great fun to watch though - as is John Simm as the new Master. Ace! Even dh, still in mourning for Roger Delgado (nice touch to include his V/O), thought John Simm was a worthy replacement

I've just thrown away the rest of my mushroom spinach and lentil soup. I mean, it's virtuos and all, but it tastes like shit. (And looks ridiculously like a large sloppy cow pat). But I did have a bowl for lunch, and am drinking lots of water, and did 30 minutes cardio this am.

Am I te only person not to like Dr who? John B I accept is gorgeousness personified, but I've never really got into the whole doctor thing.

Love John Simm as the master but hope he can manage to be a tad more sinister though and look less as though he is enjoying it all.

I love David tennant more though than Captain Jack and agree he is too twinkly for me.

LOL At the cow pat soup though.

I bet it would have made your hair glossy though prufrock
Top moment for me, as identified admiringly by Russell T in Dr Who Confidential, was the way St Derek the Heavenly's eyes conveyed his changed attitude to his poor assistant
What other actor could sing the Igglepiggle song and threaten the very existence of the Doctor so convincingly? The man is sheer class

Snap. Both about John Simm dashing about with childish glee and the absolute marvellousness of St Derek. Although I kept slightly longing for him to sing the Upsydaisy song.

I have just eaten a spectacularly boring couscous-based lunch.
