Bargain basic beauty care?

I thought it might be good to share favourite cheap beauty tips. Here are mine:

Sudocrem for spots
Witch hazel for red/sore skin
A hot flannel for exfoliating
Anne French for grimy necks (I am always amazed!)
Aldi day cream

Any more? I've hear Nivea is good is not sure which variety to buy?

Lidl micellar water and day cream

Aldi mineral powder and dupes of 8 hour miracle cream and urban decay naked eyeshadow palette

Olive oil (yes, the one generally used in the kitchen) as makeup remover ;)

Nipple cream with lanolin for chapped lips, scaly hands and cheeks etc.

Simple "kind to skin" products are also quite good imo.:)

Coconut oil for leave in hair conditioner (massage tiny amount into ends and miniscule amount through lengths).
Oats in a knotted sock soaked in the bath water for skin soothing.
Tea tree oil for spots, dilute with a !little simp!e oil such as almond, baby oil or moisturiser.
Sudocrem for sore skin, dermatitis, angry red skin etc.

Ooh love the oats in a sock idea. I have the Aldi 8 hour cream too, it's indistinguishable from the real thing.

Baby talc powder for contouring/ under eye concealer setting works a treat. And your face smells like a fresh nappy.

Astral rather than Nivea blue pot- it has a better texture that soaks in easier.
Boots Pure range is good.
Careful with Simple stuff- it's anything but and can be quite harsh I was told by a dermatologist (same with Clinique at the other end of the £££s)

I like the deciem products and also love body shop chamomile oil for cleansing. I bit it on the 40% offer and it lasts me ages.

I always use baby powder for face powder. Saves a fortune.

Not a product as such but if you tip a bit of nail varnish remover into a broken blusher or eyeshadow it fixes it. the nail varnish remover evaporates in minutes leaving you with a set eyeshadow again.

also soluble aspirin and honey makes an amazing salicylic acid face mask for pennies.

I LOVE deciem/the ordinary products, they are so cheap and have made a massive difference to my skin. They get slated on here for some reason, no idea why because for me they have been fabulous. Particularly the retinol in squalene.

Yes, Astral - 90p in Sainsburys and great as night cream!

Talc as dry shampoo-before going to bed turn your head upside down and rub talc in.
Sea salt as a scalp exfoliant, recommended by Sali Hughes this week, I've not tried yet but will tomorrow.

Simple moisturisers are great and I use their excellent day cream SPF 15 in the summer. Toner is also good but cleansers contain SLS and as a PP said are not gentle at all (same goes for shower/bath products). I use SLS-free aqueous cream (v cheap for a big tub at any chemist/supermarket) as a cleanser.

Nivea soft moisture cream is £1 (unsurprisingly) in pound shop. I use it for face & hands.

Baby shampoo as a build up removing shampoo (no silicones)

I always nip to the boots reduced counter for reduced beauty goodies I got the sanctuary pink face masks for 50p each and mask bar rose gold face mask 75p each and ogx argan oil conditioners £1 each!

I love the aha/bha peeling.

Is the retinol good? Currently pregnant so don't use any (but previously had a prescription).

The fact that 1% is available for the European market (with no prescription) and such low price? Pretty great imo👍

Cheap clear mascara for keeping eyebrows in check

Essence has a super cheap clear one. Gel mascara for lash and brow. I love it ;) (for my brows, never tried it on the lashes...)

The Tesco £1 hair serum in a little red bottle. Brilliant stuff.

My cats learnt that when it comes out the hair dryer will follow so he leaves the room to sulk.

@Fluffy that made me smile because I'm here needing to dry my hair but as the cat is curled up asleep on my bed I can't possibly disturb him by putting the hairdryer on!

Agree that Boots sale shelf is worth a rummage, although my recent bargain was the yellow Vaseline body lotion for 37p in Superdrug, I bought three.

Sudocrem on spots overnight, Aveeno lotion as body lotion but also ok for the face, and Vosene shampoo from the pound shop would be my bargain buys.

A layer of greek yogurt makes an excellent face mask. Hydrating, brightening and softening.

Green tea face spray. Make green tea and let it simmer on the hob. Cool down. Decant into a spray bottle and use as toner/face mist

To remove makeup I massage coconut oil over my face then wipe off with a hot wet face cloth.

I then dry my face and massage a very small amount on as a moisturiser.

No spots, clear skin and much less oily than it used to be!
