Going to Italy for a week in August.

I've got:
one playsuit
a pair of denim shorts
a black sundress
a red sundress
a denim midi skirt
a 'dressy' dress
t-shirts
a couple of boho-ish cotton blouses to wear with shorts or the denim skirt
What else do I need? Struggling to find any nice cotton dresses. Assume I'll need either another pair of shorts or another playsuit maybe?

Thanks. :)

I know this isn't answering your question but loads of mozzie repellant. I'm just back and all 6 adults were eaten alive, even me and I don't usually get bitten at all. Your list sounds good by the wayGrin

Thanks - have been reading about the mozzies. Going to get the 50% Deet stuff.

Yes I'd heard of their legendary status but they exceeded my expectations. HmmGrin

Need to get some bite cream too - got bitten in Germany last summer and they swelled up like marbles!

Maybe some more shorts in different colours, that you could wear with some pretty cotton tops, next have some nice linen dresses in at the moment, H&M & Zara can be good for cotton stuff as well.

It depends where you are going and whether it's going to be a beach type holiday or a city holiday?

Yes agree with pp on more shorts preferably cotton..also have you considered culottes?

What are you going to be doing there?

Lake holiday.

Have got some culottes but they are black and not v cool. I definitely need more shorts, but can't find any I like the look of, as yet. My Levis ones are the first pair I've ever found that I feel quite comfortable and confident wearing (even though I used to be skinny, I always thought shorts didn't suit me).

Not a big shoe fan tbh, so might be able to resist Italian shoes. Maybe the bags will appeal, though!

I'd question the denim midi. You will roast. I can't remember the last time I wore denim in the UK, let alone around the humid Italian lakes! For the same reason I'd not take anything that was polyester.

I'd replace with cotton or linen trousers or a midi skirt with a linen t-shirt or vest top. Gap are good for such things on the cheap and my M&S still had most of its linen section out despite the sale.

Zara did have some wise leg very light material culottes. Try there?

I’d also take a hat.

Shorts- I got some
Lovely tailored black linen ones from
River island of all places!

Shirt dresses can be a great throw on, try mango.

Denim midi would be for evening, if I take it.

I don't wear polyester, except the occasional poly full skirt in the winter.

I can't wear linen - find it really itchy.

A hat? Cripes - hadn't thought of that. What kind of hat? Haven't worn a sunhat since about 1994!

If you are intending to visit any cathedrals etc you will need something that covers knees and shoulders.

For a week you have plenty I think. Have a fabulous time, and thanks to PP about the mozzie tip. Am off to Italy myself soon and have never encountered this in Italy before - is it a plague of mozzies or something? Are they in the cities or just by the lakes?

Are you self catering or in a hotel? If hotel, a couple of cotton dresses and dump the denim skirt, too hot for that! Try H&M for dresses. You'll need to look presentable for dinner and no-one wants that sweating legs feeling in a thick skirt.

Self catering, then more short!

Hotel - really struggling to find cotton dresses that I like.

How about a strappy jumpsuit for evenings?

Cami tops to wear with shorts?

Possibly a cardi or denim jacket for late evenings/fierce aircon.

Definitely need something shoulder-covering and knee length for any churches (always worth a visit as they are so cool).

H&M has some excellent stuff in at the moment.

Denim midi would be for evening, if I take it. you'll still roast.

Have you looked at Cos and Arket? Their sale stuff is dirt cheap and both do natural fibres. Or full price they usually do 10% off. Just look past some of the weird styling!

Love both of the dresses you linked to.

Have a look at Tu Sainsburys as well.

Can't find a jumpsuit that isn't poly or linen - or that isn't built for a giant (am a hobbit).

I've got a couple of cotton cardigans - black, white, so go with everything. Have got a beautiful silk cami.

Got loads of cotton full midi skirts, but have gone off them because it's hard to get the right length of top for them, and really want to replace them with dresses.
