Good SPF, daily exercise even if it's just a good walk, not eating too much sugar and a multivitamin with minerals.

I've never smoked, I don't drink alcohol, I've been vegetarian for 38 years and very little wheat or dairy.

Though I cannot take all the credit , my DDad (still alive) and DGran (no longer with us) always defied their ages lookswise, so I have good genetics.

No sun; no smoke.

Be a bit fat...fills out the wrinkles.

No sun, no fags, no booze.

Good genes, probably. My grandma died at 90 with barely a line on her face, my parents now are 85 and both look amazing. I try and help my genes along by a lifetime of sun dodging and not smoking.

Genetically lucky, exercise, walk tall with a spring in your step and keep up with fashion just slightly. The walking tall and good posture makes a big difference, slouching is so aging. And wear comfortable shoes, high heels and bunions - not a good look

I'm afraid it's all the boring stuff - don't smoke, plenty of sleep, plenty of water, fruit and veg, watch your sugar intake including booze, watch your caffeine, daily exercise and SPF. From a skincare point of view, cleanse properly morning and night with a cleanser that suits your skin and a flannel. Hyaluronic acid and vitamin C have also been brilliant for my dry dehydrated skin

Definitely disagree with being a bit fat, excess weight not good for anyone. Be spritely

Agree with most of the above. Use loads of sun screen. Don't smoke and eat healthily. Maintain good posture - pilates helps.

Sun block, glycolic toners, exercise, shiny hair, white teeth, defined brows. And for me tiny amounts of Botox to open up eyes and lift brows.

I have never smoked, am caffeine free and dislike the sun so stay in the shade but I drink a lot of wine. Hopefully the good cancels out the bad there.

Not smoking, not sunbathing (much), good genes, exercise. Oh I don’t drink either. Body balance classes which is as close to yoga as I can cope with.

Drink loads of water, keep out of the sun, don't smoke. But mainly good genes from my mother's side.

Largely genes I think as my parents don’t look their age at all. At 76 and 81 they’re not completely grey. I have olive complexion so few wrinkles. Also don’t really have any grey hair. Thick dark eyebrows and eyes lashes. But I inherited all these.

Slim, pull stomach in wherever possible to help flat stomach and strengthen back. Ditto posture.

Don’t drink, don’t smoke, easy on sugar and carbs. Move a lot.

Cut out the sun.
Cut out drink as it dehydrates.
Get the HRT quick sticks as it keeps your hair shiny and full.
Good skincare routime tha5 doesnt have to be expensive but you need to do it. I think chemical peels are a waste if tume but good moisturizers and massage help keep skin supple.

Good mindset too. I think dissatisfaction shows. That goes for men and women. An open contented face is far more attractive.
Curiosity and a sense of humour at the aging process too helps.
Embrace it. Nothing cam reverse it without looking like a freak and a desperate one at that.

I am a bit scared of botox but I might change my tune at 60. My mum still looks great and she is active and energetic but that takes effort. Nothing happens on its own

DDad and DGran both very slight , could say scrawny , frames. But their weights were constant, yoyo weightloss/gain is ageing.

Never smoked, never drink much alcohol, not a sun worshiper.
Eat well, drink lots of water, & forget trying to look slim. ( it’s very ageing past about 45 )

Good genes for the most part I can easily pass for 5 years younger than I actually am (mum, aunt & cousins all the same), I don't have any fancy skincare routine don't always take make up off before bed but I do moisturise every morning, I drink plenty of water, very little alcohol, don't smoke.

The way I dress/hair colour also plays a part - there are pics of me in my early twenties where I look older than I do now at 39 but for some reason I felt as a mum I had to dress frumpy & I had dark hair which ages me... now I'm blonde & dress in what suits me rather than worry about fashion or how I feel I should be dressed for my age/circumstances.

There is a difference between being skinny fat and 'scrawny', and being toned. I know someone the same size as me, who eats badly, starves herself of all nutrition, drinks and looks terrible. I eat well, don't drink often, weight train and look a lot better. Being fat and unhealthy is just as ageing as being thin and unhealthy

Ooh love this topic:)

I'm 38 (how did that happen?!!) and guesses for my age come in at about 27.

  • It's not just your face, it's everything. So keeping body in healthy shape knocks years off

- SPF every day, don't tan, get a spray tan then put factor 50 on
- No make up to sleep, skin care before bed, as much as can manage, I have a full regime, difference is hugely visible
- Sleep!
- No smoking, I don't drink, healthy diet (vegan works for me but no lectures here, just pointing at Heidi Klum)
- Yoga is good for looking and feeling youthful, I've had comments after classes about seeming bright and looking well from people with no idea I've come from class
- Keep learning, study a bit if you can, learn a bit of a language, read! Active curious mind is youthful and shows in the way you act and interact
- Take vitamin supplements even with a healthy diet
  • Get up early go to bed early, this is the way to get better quality sleep
  • Yes absolutely keep moving, walk whenever you can, take the stairs, take fifteen minutes to wander in the park

- Take care of your hair, choose a style that is age appropriate but not ageing. Also take care of condition of hair, healthy shiny hair is youthful. My hair is long and is fine as I don't look too old for long hair, longer is youthful for my age. There are some really funky younger styles, the long bob with the waves for example, it's fashionable at the moment, so keep up to date in an age appropriate way. My hair still has absolutely no grey in it, bizarrely but no complaints from me. I colour it though, so I only see this when dark roots come in. I think this is genes as both my parents were the same.
- Keep up on simple self care like nails smart whatever your style is, eyebrows etc
- The only non health or lifestyle thing I've done is a tiny bit of botox in my forehead, I have lines there and always have even as a teenager, it's genetic again, they don't match the rest of my age appearance so I have those smoothed to match the rest of me. Also stops them getting worse. I don't mess with anything else, but who knows, in future I may!
  • White straight teeth I agree with. I'm trying to get courage to go do something about this myself, I'm a bit phobic, fine with all sorts of other things (botox, IVF, surgery fine, vaccinations here pass me that I'll help) but not keen on teeth things! I notice though and it is a youthful thing to have whiter straight teeth. So it's on my list of come on it's worth it.

As everyone says, it's the "boring" things, but actually I don't feel boring or bored, I'm full of energy, have more confidence and can do way more by having a healthy lifestyle!

Never smoked, , never did drugs, don't sunbathe, never developed a taste for alcohol, sleep a lot, don't give a shit about irrelevant stuff, hardly ever get angry or other distructing emotions, good quality food, 1-2 litres of water a day, good genetics, moderate exercise, generally active lifestyle, not having kids, keeping away from negative people, avoid drama and stress.

No sun and no smoking.

Oh and greasy skin helps too.

Report

I still get id'd at mid thirties.

I think it's down to having oily skin. I think drier skin wrinkles easier so it's nothing I've done. It's just genetics.
