What do people think of brooches?

Are they very old-fashioned? I bought a plain grey t-shirt because I like the shape and have added a sparkly dragonfly brooch but really don’t know if I like the look. Please advise.

Well now....if you're under 30 and the brooch is particularly beautiful, you could look very nice.

If you're my age...45, you might look like a batty craft teacher.

it's a fine line.

Also...if you like it, then it doesn't really matter.

TickledOnion · 24/06/2018 12:33

Oh dear. I’m 40 and not very fashionable.

I like it (but then I've been rocking the batty craft teacher look for years...)

Pinktails · 24/06/2018 12:38

It looks fine - I think it looks smart. op

thedevilinablackdress · 24/06/2018 12:39

Lovely. Definitely wear it. The rest of your outfit is simple and this adds a touch of style and uniqueness.

surferjet · 24/06/2018 12:47

I love a nice brooch, but only on coats/ jackets.
Think a brooch on a T.Shirt is a bit naff op sorry.

pullingknots · 24/06/2018 12:49

I like it. Go for it.

MipMipMip · 24/06/2018 12:50

It looks good. But I don't want a to be as liking brooches because I but most of mine second hand and don't want the prices going up. Grin

Seriously though, brooches are rightfully coming back.

UrsulaPandress · 24/06/2018 12:52

DH bought me a brooch for Christmas. All my friends did this Hmm but I like it. I wear it on the lapel of a black coat and it adds a touch of interest. It's a dragonfly.

But I am styleless.

squirrelnutkins1 · 24/06/2018 12:53

Looks nice 👍🏻

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2018 12:53

I love brooches. Very nice OP, ties your shoes to your outfit.

MsHomeSlice · 24/06/2018 12:54

like a pp I do like a Nice Brooch, they are like fancy splendid badges for grown ups

BUT only on hats coats or scarves....I really do not like them on lighter fabric where they are lolling about like a bad bit of scaffolding supporting an iffy saggy old building.

So in your case I wouldn't wear one on your t shirt....but if you had a medium weight sort scarf, and have the brooch on instead of a knot then I would go with that.

Pancakeflipper · 24/06/2018 12:55

Sorry a no from on when it's on a Tshirt. I like brooches on coats and woolly things

MsHomeSlice · 24/06/2018 12:55

short scarf, not **sort ....blooming typos.

Bluntness100 · 24/06/2018 12:58

No, I don't like it, I'm sorry, I find brooches very old fashioned, and I don't think they belong on t shirts. Sorry. 😔

Helloflamingogo · 24/06/2018 13:00

I like it!

Paintbox · 24/06/2018 14:04

I like brooches on coats etc but I agree with pp that the don’t look right on Tshirts, not least because they pull the material, they need to go on heavier fabric imo. I like your brooch and I like your outfit but I’m not sure that they go together

LapsedHumanist · 24/06/2018 14:09

Love brooches. Great for a bit of discreet flirting.

You look great in that pic OP.

AjasLipstick · 24/06/2018 14:10

Lapsed How does a brooch facilitate flirting? Confused

MistyReturns · 24/06/2018 14:15

I love brooches!!
On a shoe
Scarf (kind of like a tie pin)
Handbag
Jacket lapel.
On a hair band
Belt buckle
I’m currently making a load, so I’d love them to be the next big thing. Yours looks lovely & isn’t pulling the fabric down. Go for it.

MsHomeSlice · 24/06/2018 14:16

Lapsed is confusing brooches with squirty water trick flowers...get their clothes wet and strip them naked.
....there's your flirting. :o

Brooch strategically placed on bosom.

Chatting to nice chap.

Look up through eyelashes at him then sweep eyes down to brooch...make tiny adjustment to brooch positioning or lightly brush off minuscule dust particle.

You’ve just given him opportunity and permission to drop his gaze slightly below the eyes/mouth triangle whilst drawing attention to your embonpoint.

Full smile as you raise your eyes back to meet his gaze.

Loonoon · 24/06/2018 14:21

I think lapsedhumanist should be writing period romantic/erotic novels. I came over all unnecessary when reading her last post.

guffaux · 24/06/2018 14:22

blimy lapsed..I've gone all hot [embarassed] dont think I could carry that off x Grin
