Do I grunge/rock my wedding dress?

Hi guys,

Finally picked my wedding dress. I have silver Gina strappy sandals to wear with it............but I'm so tempted to grunge/rock it up change the sash to a belt and wearing a leather jacket.

If I were to do that what shoes? I don't want to regret wearing the wrong shoes.

Or shall I leave as is?

(Ps the dress is big and needs taking in)

Do I grunge/rock my wedding dress?

My view is that you have lots of opportunities in your life to wear a grunge/rock look, but probably only one to wear a wedding look, so I would wear the dress, which is lovely, as it is - if you do want to add some grunge touches I would make them very subtle, rather than having a leather jacket as an obvious thing in all your pictures.

That's just my opinion, though - ultimately you should do whatever you think will make you feel great on the day.

Wishing you a wonderful wedding day and happy marriage.

Dress is gorgeous and you look fab! I would stick with it as it is.

Perhaps you could grunge it up in the evening a bit if you still want to as a compromise?

I’m getting married in 7 weeks and I’m grunging up but subtly Grin traditional white dress, but black nails and navy blue suede heels underneath. Make up style is lots of red lipstick (I don’t feel like me without it!) and I’m keeping my cartilage piercing in.

Love your dress! Not going to post a pic of mine in case DF is stalking 😂 but it’s the mikaella 1959 - if you google the model has it quite edgily styled, which I think it needs as it’s pretty girly.

Haven't read the replies but have you seen rock n roll bride on instagram, some amazing ideas if that's the look your wanting! X

Irregular choice shoes? In a bright colour like red?
And have you checked out the Couture Company in Birmingham? They do amazing sashes.

I think they also do personalised embroidered leather jackets as well?

DameSquashalot · 14/06/2018 18:04

I love the idea of grunge rocking it. If it's done well.it will look fab.

myheartgoesout · 14/06/2018 18:12

Be you on your wedding day...if being you means adding the grunge then I'd go for it.

Racheyg · 14/06/2018 18:21

Ok this is stunning. I think people will be shock if I actually keep it pretty as I'm usually in grey and black ect

For reference the groom and bridesmaids are in forest green and my flowers will be white roses

So you normally wear dm’s or another pair of boots? I’d go for a pair of patent black dm’s and leave everything as is, but just hitch up your skirt as you walk down the isle Flowers

Buglife · 14/06/2018 18:25

Walk the aisle traditional and then have your leather jacket/some amazing boots to put on after? Grunge it up fir the after party. I have lots of friends who removed veil/changed to converse etc to change up the look for the reception.

SymphonyofShadows · 14/06/2018 18:26

Get some skull jewellery from Butler & Wilson? I love it, some of it is quite subtle and some is totally in your face.

Slanetylor · 14/06/2018 18:27

When are you getting married? I’d LOVE a leather jacket with that dress. For the ceremony I’d probably go traditional and wear your Gina’s. But take some pictures after in a leather jacket and wear it between ceremony and reception if there’s travel involved?

Satayyoustay · 14/06/2018 18:31

i second the butler and wilson jewluary actually the right piece would be perfect

squashyhat · 14/06/2018 18:31

I don't understand. If grunge/rock is your style why are you going for a frothy meringue?

squashyhat · 14/06/2018 18:32

Or have I misunderstood what grunge/rock style is? Old gimmer so I may well have done.

Racheyg · 14/06/2018 18:35

I'm getting married in October. We're not traditional as it's all in a pub the wedding breakfast is a selection of burgers and I'm not wearing a veil.

You look fab in the dress but could defo lose the sparkly belt in favour of something else

Love the pic of the dress with the leather jacket and love the idea of walking down the aisle in DMs

WanderingTrolley1 · 14/06/2018 18:37

I would leave the dress alone. You don’t want to look at the pictures in years to come and cringe.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/06/2018 18:37

Where are you getting married? I'd say boots underneath, and then leather jacket for afterwards.
Could you do something to your flowers? White roses with white dress is a bit... white lol.

Cross post cos I'm slow. Jacket could work in that wedding, just don't boil in it!

vdlc · 14/06/2018 18:39

I got married in a white wedding dress... with high patent leather Dr Martens and a leather jacket! I also had a beautiful bouquet of roses mix white and pink and a white pearl hairpiece. Wear what you like. It's your day and the pics should show who you are, you will be looking at them for a long time :)

Racheyg · 14/06/2018 18:39

squashy cause I liked the layers and I can eat and not feel self conscious about bloating
