Body shape and dressing for it

I’m struggling to buy stuff that fits. I think this pic from a while back is the best to show my shape - what do you think I am? Body seems long or maybe it’s just that arse has huge so legs look short? I don’t seem to suit much other than casual skinny jeans and big top but feel frumpy!

It looks as if you might be a similar shape to me in that I carry my weight on my thighs / hips so they look (well are!) disproportionately large. I also have a high waist that makes my torso look longer and my legs look even shorter - can't tell from your pic if you're the same?

Anyway I find skinnies are the worse possible shape for me because they draw the eye straight to my thighs and give me no way of disguising how short my legs are. I've worn them (of course I have - I'm a fashion victim) but I've had to work to make them look ok and pretty much any other shape is better for me.

My current favourites are high waisted wide legs that take my thighs out of the picture altogether. Highish waist is important cos it makes my legs look longer. I like ankle length (cos I have good ankles) but not mid calf cos again they make my legs look shorter. I also like the 80s/40s mannish shape - high waist, loose on the thigh and tapering slightly into a turnup at the ankle. Or I don't mind a narrow/cigarettish leg as long as it's not too fitted. Basically any shape that takes the focus away from my thighs!

It’s like I have three sections. Top is very short. Legs very short but middle which includes my “very fat and lOng bottom( thanks ds) is massive - t’is weird. I wouldn’t say my thighs are super big but they are indeed large. What are your boobs like? Mine are average. Not big enough to balance out the massive middle section!

To get a clear idea of shape you need to get a tape measure out and then check with an online calculator like shop your shape.

I'm an apple shape and I hate clothes shopping. I have huge boobs, no waist and slim hips. My legs are really skinnt too. I'm an 18 top and a 12 bottom (elasticated waist only) I can't find any clothes that fit me properly!

Find one of those calculators that uses both your vertical and horizontal measurement. Much better results

So the usual bust, hips, waist and then I can't quite remember the others, maybe it was feet to groin distance, groin to waist, waist to boobs, boobs to shoulders.

I'm hourglass and horizontal measurement only sites say I should wear dresses and belts. Take into account the long distance between my groin and waist and corresponding shortness between norks and waist and the advice change, correctly, to long fitted tops and no waist cinching belts.
