Long time lurker who wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to you all for making me drag myself out of my post children, non-existent style rut and actually think about what I wear.
I am now a convert to tailoring and have been getting so many things tweaked, and lo, they look so much better!
I have also discovered the wonders of Sezane: the Alexia jacket is to die for, have worn it 3 times in a week and always to heaps of compliments. It is very heavy (and I nearly boiled over on a warm London evening yesterday) but it's a worthwhile sacrifice.
The Anabelle top is lovely but slightly too low cut on me and meant too much bra poked out so has regretfully gone back.
Also got the 2001 Perfect Slim jeans which are fab (although not as thick as the Olivia jeans which I got from Mango which are brilliant skinnies - nice dark denim, good cut and nicely thick too so avoid the dreaded jegging look).
Thank you again - you have made such an impact!

Marking my place.

Thank you Elle that's very useful. Or should I say merci beaucoup.

Bo love the shirt! I had similar, but shorter in several colours, from La Redoute years ago that I used to wear for work.

Methen Flowers, not the same but my dd2 has ds and so disability is a familiar thing to us.

Lovely jacket cosmia. I did admire that one.

I like the Zara top, but suspect it wouldn’t do much for me.

Thanks for the new thread and to Bob.

I have a bit of catching up to do but bo's lovely kimonos have reminded me of one of my all time favourite albums.

Ahem.
Catching up. I love Bo’s Zara blouse. And the extra kimono pics look great too, especially with that hat. Am experiencing style envy.
Loving Bananafish’s style montage. You should totally get the Sezane coral sandals. I love them so much, I tried to buy a reserve pair but they’re out of stock in my size now.
I thought it might be fun to start our new thread with our wish lists.
My wish list: tan crossbody structured bag (possibly the small Mulberry Amberley), tan slim strap flat sandals, navy casual summer skirt, jersey summer dress, smarter summer dress something like a strappy sundress style, long gold necklace with some sort of detail. I’m only earnestly pursuing the tan accessories, happy to take my time over the other items. Dress shopping often makes me cross (waist at the wrong point due to my longer torso) so I haven’t bought any for ages. ToElle - you’re a long bean too I think - any dress recommendations?
In an attempt to freshen up my jeans style and move away from skinnies I have bought a slim leg style. I know it’s not very adventurous but I’m very pleased with them. It’s the 712 slim cut and the colour I bought is 98% cotton so holds its shape and fits a pear shape fairly well.

peony I did the same with jeans, I replaced a couple of skinnies with a Ralph Lauren slim leg crop (thank you tkmaxx) and find they're a little more versatile than skinnies. The only thing is I've lost a bit of weight (a good thing) but I now need a belt them, whereas they fit perfectly before Angry. I also find a lot of waisted dresses difficult, as a tall inverted triangle, I'm shortwaisted and have a small gap between my hips and waist, so waists often fall on my lower ribs.

I don't have a big wishlist. Sahm so not much budget.
Firstly, new sandals, gladiator style in either dark brown, taupe or black. I've just sent back some Sorel ones from Brandalley as they were lovely but uncomfortable. I'm currently eyeing up some on Etsy, not sure which colour to go with, dark brown, black, or dark grey. I have difficult feet, need a little cushioning and a high instep.
I think my grey, crossbody bag will last this summer, but will probably need replacing at some point, so I might keep an eye out for a lighter colour spring/summer bag.
New bra/bras.
Some more summer jewellery, silver or leather and silver cuffs.
Summer dress, if I can find one that fits, in natural fabric, that I like...

I managed to bag a pair of oversized navy sunglasses by Bench for free, dp was throwing them out as they don't really suit him. Look great on me, though. Grin

quirky I had seen they were touring again - does Russell still sing falsetto?

I've seen some nice shirt dresses in H&M - pure cotton, midi length, long sleeved, quite classy looking. Can't see them on the website needless to say but I'll go and try one on today if I have time.

peony yes I'm a fellow long bean! My waist is fairly high though, so by and large dresses fit me, but just because they fit me they don't necessarily look good. Photo attached from when I was trying to figure out what to wear to that wedding. I do not think the floral dress looks good on me because even thought the waist is at my natural waist I look all out of proportion with a really stumpy torso. I kind of need to be careful to avoid that effect. I have had good success with Sezane dresses and also Stories. Dresses with a belt like shirt dresses are also good as you can move the belt up or down a little. Also that Uniqlo dress is still getting lots of wear and is a perfect length for me.

Gratuitous shot of the Dries top. I didn't' wear this outfit either, but I think wearing the skirt a bit lower (it's a size big for me) makes me look more in proportion.

Wish list for me is:
Work trousers that are not slim leg
Low slingbacks for work - I may ask my sister to order the editor slingbacks previously discussed and pictured and bring them over. Black would be more practical, I fancy the pink, but I think practicality may prevail here.
Eres swimsuit - I tried some on in London and honestly they were utterly fabulous so I've ask my husband to get me one for my birthday. This is a spectacular piece of mental gymnastics on my part since our finances are shared, but it feels like an extravagance so I'd rather it was a gift.

Other than that my clothes fund is being re-purposed into the terrazzo floor fund. I bought nothing in the NAP or Browns sale and I'm going to try to stick to the lovely things I have in my wardrobe already.

When you put away winter clothes do you put away boots too?

flo he most certainly does sing falsetto and jumps around the stage loads too.

Elle I put away the proper winter boots, I have left out some ankle boots, a pair of navy biker-ish ones, a pair of pale grey western style (definitely have a spring/summer vibe) and a charcoal grey, suede pair with wedge heels... oh, and a pair of short, french, black rainboots. I have quite a few trainers and sandals.

I put my boots away before summer. But it gets far too hot here to even contemplate boots.
And then I have the pleasure of getting them out again in the autumn.

Floisme, I've been looking at shirt-style dresses, too. Ordered these yesterday to try on:

boring? I need to be less bluey-white of leg, though, and possibly not v good quality anyway.

Mango via La Redoute. Possible penis-belt issues, though, now I've been alerted to such things...

Went into Zara quickly. Couldn't see Bo's shirt, and then I began getting that overdose-of-Zara feeling, after about 3 mins, and had to leave. Might order online.

I really like this but suspect I'd look daft in it...and then stain it.

ToElle - that Dries top is gorgeous.

My latest charity shop find was a Massimo Dutti silk top with very pretty broderie anglaise cap sleeves, for £6.99. It has a higher neck than yours, but the shape at the shoulder feels similar. I'm a pear, so aim for some width at my shoulders to balance out my hips.

What does everyone think about Agnes b? I have loved the brand for a long time and think Agnes is incredibly talented. I have stuff from the days when just about everything there was made in France. Sadly a chunk of it no longer fits. I have a beautiful Brigitte shirt dress which I am going to ask a dressmaker to add a couple of side panels to as it is too tight. No idea whether that’ll end in tears, just hoping i can wear it again.
After a recent browse in the rue du vieux colombier shop though I felt the quality is going down and the prices are out of touch with reality.

Yay new thread!

Wish list....I'd like a pair of tan sandals, some proper non stretchy jeans that aren't skinnies (maybe from Sezane?) and a cardigan that doesn't make me look frumpy - just something to throw on for a chilly day/evening that's not as formal as a blazer or jacket. The ones I've tried on so far have had crappy shoulders and aren't fitted enough. Oh, and a tan leather tote-ish bag to replace the cheap Maison de Nimes one I bought last year - it's actually a nice bag and I've used it every day but the plastic is beginning to wear at the corners.

My only concern with the sandals is whether my feet will always be cold!

Auld - those shirt dresses look lovely - I love the green one and the belt details.

Actually I have been vaguely looking for a casual shirt dress but so far nothing has quite worked. I'm contemplating whether or not I can do sleeveless. I don't think I've had my arms out since I was about 15.

Have often loved the Agnes B designs but boggled at the prices for what are usually not crafted well finished items. But for style, she has such a good eye. I generally look and never buy.

Adored Bo's kimonos. As children, my dad brought some back for us from Hong Kong as dressing gowns, I think, but I no longer have mine, although I kept it until university so it would probably still just pass muster over a T shirt.

Shopping/wish list is empty at the moment; I have bought everything I needed or wanted since January (guided by this thread, largely) and feel my wardrobe is full (and wallet emptied) except for random thrift shop finds.

I agree OC the styles, prints and the cut are great but sometimes the quality of the fabric does not follow. I think that’s been increasingly the problem since she has had more and more stuff made outside of France. Some of the stuff now is downright flimsy.
