It's here! The sun is here!

But I burn really easily. I'm the colour of milk, and whilst i dont sunbathe, I spend a bit of time outside and so am looking for a SPF that:

  • I can wear with or without makeup
  • high factor - pref 30 or over
  • doesn't pill
  • isn't tinted
  • won't make me look even ghostlier than usual
  • isn't greasy and won't make me spotty
  • isn't too £££ so I can afford to wear it until Sept ish.

I've had the Biore and liked it, and also the Hada Labo, but have read that the Biore one has changed formulations? Any recommendations? I'm fine with alcohol on my skin, I think.

I'm very pale. I like Ultrasun, P20, M&S sunsmart all in a 50. Ultrasun is probably the best of the 3 in terms of non-greasiness & not staining clothes (P20 ypu have to run around in the nod until it dries). M&S goes on the nicest, but it is the most lotiony of the three.

I'm currently using Biore and wouldn't use anything else. Every other one I've tried either makes me look like Casper or so greasy that I'm practically reflective.

Ooh, Ultrasun? Interesting. Does that not make you ghostly and greasy, choppolata?

YES McDougal. You sound like me. Have you bought Biore recently? Are you using watery essence or the other one? Has the formulation changed, have you noticed?

Is the Biore or Ultrasun good for sensitive skin and on face?

I'm on the lookout for something for my face, and everything I've tried either irritates my (thin, easily red, easily itchy and sore) face. I haven't tried these, though.

In the past I've stupidly relied on the fact that my make up usually has a low SPF value, but now at 37 I've noticed there are patches of skin near my hairline and on one cheek that are looking more brown and darker than my skin otherwise. So far easily covered with make up, but I'd rather not have more sun damage!

Oh, yes I'm definitely talking about daily facial sunscreen. Somehow in my detailed bullet pointed list, I missed out that key bit of info Blush.

Prozac are you sensitive to alcohol in skincare?

I've probably had it for around 2/3 months now, Zebra, and it is watery essence. I just love the stuff. Less than £8 on eBay direct from Japan. It's my first time using it so I haven't noticed if the formula has changed but I really hope it hasn't. A good facial sunscreen is like the holy grail!

Where do you buy Biore? I see it is being sold on Amazon - can it be trusted?

In addition to my question about amazon/where to buy Biore, is this the version you use: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01NAX614L/?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Thanks!

Boots Soltan Once Face SPF 30 or SPF 50 is excellent, I've been using it for years

Ah ok. Ultrasun body is clear, but the face version is more like a lotion. I don't recall it being greasy, but last year I just used the body version all over as I had a giant bottle of it. My skin is a bit sensitive, but I've been ok with Ultrasun.

I’ve just started using this. It’s a physical sun block.

I'm using Heliocare at the moment in the tinted version. I love it, I usually use LRP Anthelios tinted or Ultrasun tinted but I prefer this one.

ThisYear · 18/04/2018 13:17

Ooops sorry, just saw you wanted untinted!

Report
TheSpottedZebra · 18/04/2018 13:29

THanks all!

I want untinted ThisYear as I am so pale, the tints never match me! I've not tried Heliocare - interesting. I find LRP really greasy however Sad

Ooh, Bagel - lovely list! There's still very few British brands there, aren't there? I thought we'd have more choice on the high street, but not yet I guess. I might check out the Body Shop one, and the Nivea one and maybe the Misha one...

I tried Body Shop in the hope it would be as good as Biore as was nervous about random ordering from internet/change in formula chat. Made me break out like anything!

Also tried a couple of others mentioned on here before randomly picking up this https://www.superdrug.com/Skin/Sunscreen/Face-Sun-Cream/Hawaiian-Tropic-Silk-Hydration-Airsoft-faces-SPF30-50ml/p/727888?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjp7zwJ7E2gIVAfEbCh2e3wrFEAQYAiABEgKWrvDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CPP_Ll8OexNoCFVYSGwodlIwAww

Is pretty good! No break outs which is a miracle for me!

I’ve been using SunSense for a good few years and I love it. It’s slightly tinted and can definitely be worn under make up.

Just read untinted, I’m mega pale and it doesn’t show up, the tint is so light that it just gives you a glow.

I use Olay Regenerist. Non- greasy and good protection at SPF30.

I've found Body Shop a good replacement for Biore which I'd been using for years. I tried a couple of different Biore options when the formulation changed but they all left a white cast.

I am just finishing up my Biore (2015?) and I'll be lost without it but I'm not sure I'll be able to find this pre-formulation change version again.

I'll be trying Zelens Daily Defence next.

I use Clinique City Block SPF40, it’s tinted but it’s very sheer on the skin. Have tried a sample of Body shop skin defence but it made my skin oilier than normal. Heard mixed reviews for Ultrasun, La Roche-Posay & Biore. I would try & get a sample of a few to try 😀
