What items of clothing do you think adults shouldn't wear?

This was inspired by the Heart Patch jeans thread, some posters said they looked like Mini Boden kids clothes. I personally really liked them. It got me thinking, which items of clothing do you thiink adults really can't get away with? For example, I know some people say pinafores and Dungarees look stupid on adults.

Nappies.

Other than that, wear what the fuck you like.

Find your style using your mirror, not the number of candles on your last birthday cake!

(Though I think the combination of dundaree bibs and perceptible breasts not a good look. Others might not agree. And the mankini should probably never have been invented)

I saw a woman with white leggings on today.
No woman should wear white leggings.

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 20:34:27

I like 'fun' exciting clothes, that aren't boring, however it got me thinking. I hope I don't look terrible!

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 20:34:59

Okay yes, I agree with that one...no white leggings!

PerfumeIsAMessage Sat 24-Feb-18 20:35:03

They shouldn't even make white leggings!

Jumpsuits/playsuits over the age of 4. Not good. Ever.

WhoWants2Know Sat 24-Feb-18 20:40:41

Pyjamas outside the house.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Sat 24-Feb-18 20:41:28

White leggings shouldn't be made in any size over age 5.

DaisyDando Sat 24-Feb-18 20:42:55

I find grown ups wearing Superdry odd. But I have never said so in real life as it’s none of my business etc. Plus, I am no Anna Wintour myself.

MrsElvis Sat 24-Feb-18 20:43:53

I tell you what's worse than white leggings. Flesh coloured leggings.

IWouldLikeToKnow Sat 24-Feb-18 20:45:20

Worse than white leggings are those tan/nude coloured leggingshmmAlso, adults in Disney clothing look odd to me.

LanaorAna2 Sat 24-Feb-18 20:52:47

A beige car coat.

rainbowfudgee Sat 24-Feb-18 20:54:41

I really want to buy some dungarees but can't quite bring myself to! grin I'm very short so would look like a toddler with an old face!

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 20:55:58

@rainbowfudgee do it! You should buy them, I bet you'd look really cute and they are very versatile, you can put them with so many items of clothing 😊

Barabajagal Sat 24-Feb-18 20:57:24

Not keen on knee high white socks

Bluntness100 Sat 24-Feb-18 20:59:24

I was going to post this. I saw a woman in them the other day with a cropped top, I swear to god she looked naked from the waist down at first glance.

The other one is leggings which are stretched so much they go transparent and you can see your underwear either when you walk or bend over.

Really that's just always a no.

Thierryhenryneedisaymore Sat 24-Feb-18 21:00:58

3/4 length trousers. Grim. Not flattering on anyone😒

LouseHouse Sat 24-Feb-18 21:04:12

Gilets. Fucking gilets. They make zero sense and are so, very, very ugly.

DillyDilly Sat 24-Feb-18 21:11:22

Onesies,

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 21:13:04

Ooh, what's wrong with a gilet! I used to be partial to my Jack Wills gilet, it served me well for many years! 😁

Happies Sat 24-Feb-18 21:13:20

I have dungarees and far to many items of Disney clothing 🤣 but then I do like to think I'm still 16!

specialsubject Sat 24-Feb-18 21:15:34

Big frilly frocks with lace.
Hair in bunches.
Pinafore dresses.
Dungarees.
Cartoon prints.

giveitfive Sat 24-Feb-18 21:18:18

I have recently discovered that not giving a shit what other people think about what I'm wearing or how I look is hugely liberating. So now I dress for comfort or in outfits that make me happy. Sometimes people stare. And I BEAM right back at them. Be you. Be happy.

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 21:19:10

Why do people not like dungarees and pinafore dresses? Is it because they are too toddler-y?! My 24 year old niece looks fab in a pinafore dress, I think they can look really good

OliviaBkn Sat 24-Feb-18 21:20:50

I love your attitude @giveitfive... I really need to stop feeling so self-conscious as worried about what people think of me...how did you stop giving a shit out of interest? I really try to but alway lapse back into my old ways of overthinking
