Just done bra intervention- this can't be right, can it?

Pretty small of bust, I generally wear 32B. I've tried bras of this size in the past and breast tissue hasn't filled the cup, so it's a bit hit or miss whether I even think I'm this size, rather than an A.

I've just done the Bra or Bust intervention thing. Apparently I'm a 28 E. Whaaaat? This can't be right can it, especially as I don't have enough breast tissue to even fill a B cup most of the time...

Does the intervention not work for those small of nork?

Depends where the cup is. If the band is pushing your breastage out under your arm, then a bra that helps pull it out front may well be right. Reach through your bra strap under your armpit and try scooping flesh into your current bra - does that help at all?

It may be right but it’ll be a tricky size to find - you might end up having to compromise on 30D. Do you have a Bravissimo, John Lewis or Debenhams you can go to for a fitting and to try a bunch of stuff on?

Same here, went from 32B which I felt were too big in the cup to a 28E, or a 30DD in some styles. I felt like an imposter my first time in Bravissimo, was half expecting to be laughed at/thrown out :)

Came away with bras that fit me for the first time in my life, it really is a game changer, clothes look better, my posture has improved and I wish I'd learned all this years ago!

What is bra intervention? Is it something you do yourself? If so you should go and get it done properly if you are in doubt. You will only really know when you try on actual bras.

A B cup isn't the same on a 28 back and a 32 back. Cup size is dependent on the difference between back measurement and over bust measurement. When you go down a back size you go up a cup size. Cup size can change slightly dependent on style too.

Go to the shop and find a 32 B and a 36 or 38 B and check out the difference between cup sizes even though they are both a 'B'.

For others: booborbust.com do the calculator.

OP this is probably right, the band size changes the whole volume of the cup. If you’re actually a 28 that will make a big difference to the cup shape. Have attached a picture to illustrate. I’m a 32E and I don’t think my boobs are as big as that size would have people believe! Can you go to a Bravissimo and try some on?

@LolitaLempicka try the calculator above. So many places measure wrong. This calculator gets it actually right.

Yes, many places get it wrong and most people wear the wrong size, but I don’t think you can truly know without trying actual bras on.

I'm a 32ff and while I have an ample chest it's not huge, but the bra size sounds huge.

AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 24/02/2018 17:56

Nope, that sounds right. So a b cup means the bust is 2 inches bigger than the band. On a 32 inch band that's a 34 inch bust. So for a 34 inch bust on a 28 band you are 6 inches bigger. Which is A,B,C,D,DD E

Makes sense?

I've gone from a 36D to a 28H, so I understand your surprise!

So that calculator has me at 30hh. I wear a 30e (or 30ddd) I was last measured at Rigby and Peller, less than a year ago. Go and try some on OP, I also am not sure about this calculator.

Thanks. I'll go try some on next day off I get. I must admit that I'll feel terribly pleased with myself if a 28E does fit, I've always been of the opinion I'm flat as a pancake, but perhaps not!

I went from a 36a to a 32c or a 30d. I have discovered that I ave shallow boobs (indeed!) and it certainly isn't every 30d that would fit me. But it was a revelation. My DH finds me being a d cup very amusing. I have such small boobs.

There is a website where you can see actual women with all different bra sizes but I can’t remeber what it’s called. It’s very interesting.

I think it's cos during the fhm years, we were constantly told that people like Jordan and Kelly brook were 32d or 32 f or whatever, when in actual fact they were probably more like 30h, so when we compared ourselves, we though we were massive. I wore 36b for years and wondered why they rose up. Finally worked out I was 34d; was measured at 32e!

In my option it doesn’t work for very small breasts or it gives you some obscure size that you can’t actually get anywhere. I was something ridiculous like a 26C. Impossible to find!
