I made thread title!

I went to bed in Givenchy III, nothing to say except what absolute stunning perfection. I may have been in mismatching pyjamas with a tubigrip on each knee but I felt like Audrey Hepburn.

Today tried Eau de Lierre sample. If a man walked by in it you'd momentarily think "oh he smells nice" then immediately forget about him. Bit of aftershavey smell, bit of ozone, bit of green. Bit of expensive Emperor's new clothes.

DH says I smell of municipal swimming pools. I've already scrubbed but I am surprised at some of the most negative reviews. Some major dramallamas around. Or maybe growing up on a farm on an island means I can think of far worse smells than that briney accord , doesn't quite compete with (literal) bullshit or a rotting whale carcass. I suspect if you layered it with a PM you might get something acceptable. In fact that's what I've done, I've scrubbed, covered with the sublime chypre from last week and now smell sweet and bad .

But what I really want to know Kittens is when exactly is a good time to test SM? Saturday night when getting down to business with DH? Church on Sunday? Monday morning for work?

There’s no time in my life for Secretions Magnifique. To me it smells like a student flat, after a party when lots of sweaty young men have slept there (with questionable levels of hygiene) which you enter freshly washed. Speaking from experience there.

Liking DITS - it’s quite full on sillage and is a true Chypre- getting the oakmoss now.

How funny - I've been browsing SM samples this morning!! Only place I've seen it so far is Les Scenteurs - any other suggestions? Fancy a mini sample splurge so interested in a range...

Although I may have 9ml of Oriane it's way. Sounds beautiful.

SotD is London Poppy. Actually like this one - nice bright citrus. Lasted about 3 hours though so not sure I'd pay £55 for a FB. Lovely for the sun though.

The Slovenian miniature Diva has arrived. She fits in rather well with the corporeal turn we've taken since last week. (Womanity, followed by Count's stirling work with Salome and SM). She's an early 80s powerhouse animalic chypre by Jacque Polge. Right up there with Paloma and Y. Gorgeous, but smells very much of the era. If anyone sees a FB going cheap on ebay let me know!

exploding I hope the Guerlain perfume rumour is true! I'd love a meteorites perfume. I was late to find them so the perfume had already been discontinued. Glad it wasn't just me buying them for the scent. Too sparkly to wear but I like to have a sniff now and again.

SoFancy We do sound similar. I'm not so sure about florals on their own but really like rose and violet so maybe prefer them mixed with another family like you. Insolence does sound really good.

I have had a sausage sandwich, and am about to get dressed in actual clothes for the first time since Tuesday.

SM actually physically turned my stomach. I had to put it in the outside bin because I genuinely couldn’t bear to have it in the house.

My Shalimar and Chant D'Aromes finally arrived and they are both gorgeous. Shalimar lasted for hours and hours on me and i only had one squirt as i could tell it was going to be a strong one just from the initial bottle sniff! Chant d'Aromes is much more delicate, very pretty and almost but not quite a skin scent. Both blind buys for me and I'm very very happy with both of them

I love the original Burberry Brit in EDT but I don't like all of the other ones they've done, though I haven't tried the latest pink one. I managed to find the original on eBay but it doesn't smell how I remembered, not sure if they can go off?

Can anyone recommend anything similar that I might love? I was properly obsessed with it, to the point I would always smell my clothes and be filled with happiness. I want that feeling back!

You guys may have discussed this already, but what’s with all the Jo Malone dupes at the moment? I was eyeing up the Jenny Glows Rose Oud and then found Primark has ‘private collection’ perfumes for half nothing at the moment and snapped up Rose Oud and Amber noir. They also have a lime basil and mandarin dupe, a pomegranate noir dupe, a vanilla one and a honey blossom one. As dupes go, at that price the are a bargain. But does this mean that Jo Malone stuff is becoming incredibly naff? I know you aren’t the biggest fans anyway, but I find some of them easy to wear for day time - wood sage and sea salt in particular.

Someone was wearing something I really liked and they said it was a JM one. Think it was Tonka and Myrhh. Really suited her and her personality. (In a good way!) Very heavy though. Think I'd find it too much after a while.
