Gym pants: high rise, wide leg, full length not for yoga?

I am sturdy of leg and long of torso. I do alot of early circuits classes.
I need to replace my now, getting see through, wide leg LA Fitness black trousers.
They are good as I can squat etc., without showing half my bum. They are bad as give me camel toe.
Anything for workouts seems to be either multi colour leggings or supermarket type trackie bs. Any suggestions. I will prob pay what I have to tbh.
Thanks!

For pants as per thread title, the Uniqlo seamless (aitech) range are good if you want no VPL and wicking fabric (at a much lower price than Ines sold for sport, such as runderwear). If you want cotton, then sloggi.

You also mention fitness trousers - do you mean leggings/running tights sort of things? In which case I suggest you try Decathlon as they have a good range of styles and certainly had plain black last time I was there (buying narrow thinnish trackie bottoms) and usually have a good range of different styles/fabrics/brands.

Otherwise, it's worth having a poke around in TKMaxx, as they sometimes have good lines.

Or try this website - expensive but you might see things you like

Ooh I will have a look. Thanks! I like uniqlo's underpants and airism vests.
But yes, this was fitness trousers which aren't leggings or cuffed joggers. V hard to find it seems!
Will have a look at decathlon and TK Maxx, good ideas, thanks. And M&S, who would have thought?!

I second Decathlon! I find their stuff really reasonable but also well-made!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but try Land's end. I have a pair of trousers like you've described came from there, and the quality was amazing. I think they were from a range called starfish?

I have LAnds End bootcut and slim leg gym pants too - excellent quality, last for ever, but not sure they are still doing them. I don't want leggings - I feel very unselfconscious and roll happily about the floor in my present gym gear but don't know how to replace it. The similar ones I have seen go see-through.

I was in a Decathlon today, and thought of you (hope that's not too creepy) and they had several different styles which looked potentially suitable (not cuffed at ankles, wide leg, couple of different types of waistband)

Also Sainsbury's might be worth a look.

Tikiboos, online
They do the most amazing squat proof leggings and a variety of prints. I have an addiction and have loads. They wash well and delivery service excellent. Haven't had to return yet so can't comment. Best on the market and well worth price, around £35 for full length

Might be worth looking at Sainsbury’s? I have two pairs of joggers that must be 10 years old. I used to use them for Zumba, yoga and later on in pregnancy and post partum for lounging or as pyjamas. They’ve worn and washed well and were generously sized.

Thank you auntiestella , how nice to be in someone's thoughts! Looks like I have a busy shopping schedule ahead of me next week- mature MSc student and lectures cancelled so I will make the most of not trekking down to UCL and find a suitable pair of workout pants. Hurrah.
Thank you all, I was feeling a bit despairing, but no longer (and in other news, nearly a year after our return to the U.K., DH says he has found a house which is a goer). All good in the durian household!
Thank you!

Nike website is just baffling tho' isn't it? I had some leather and suede AirMax which I loved so much. Trying to replace them has been way too tricky. Will have a look in store. Thanks!

I've got some languishing in my cupboard. I've abandoned them in favour of thick fitness leggings, in black, which to my surprise actually look better on my short sturdy legs than the wide cut I used to swear by. They also don't flap annoyingly or ride up at the ankle displaying unshaven leg like the wide cut ones. Are you sure leggings wouldn't work better (you need thick ones)?

Report
duriandurian · 21/02/2018 19:48

Hmmm, from where did you source your leggings minipie? I have seen the Gap blackout ones but would have to wait for one of their rare X% off vouchers to be emailed (oh... Hang on a minute..).
I have been looking and EVERYONE does seem to be Team Legging so maybe there is something in that. Will add to my list of shops to try. Thank you!
P.S. I lasered my legs (and the rest of me) a decade ago so generally no hair issues here which was a total blessing after years of hair from head to toe. Tho' fear my nearly-40 year old chin is trying to make up for the lost hair everywhere else...

Decathlon are brilliant. They do high waisted wide leg yoga pants that never show your builder's backside/camel toe. They are cheaper than Sports Direct and much nicer.

I've just had a look at the Decathlon website and saw a few things I like 👍 Can anyone tell me if the waist on the gym leggings falls down? My Tesco ones are great and really snug but I bough some cheapy Primark ones and they give me a horrible baggy crotch, so annoying 😠

Sweaty Better Power Leggings - amazing if you do try leggings. I was not a convert but these have turned gym going into a better thing.

I wear 7/8ths as I'm tiny Grin

Report
minipie · 22/02/2018 19:41

Mine are from Sweaty Betty too, not sure of the style name but they are thick (and warm so poss not ideal for summer). I did get some fairly similar slightly thinner ones from TK Maxx however. TK Maxx has loads of leggings, I took about 10 pairs into the changing room and tried them all - some where horrific and some were decent, amazing variation actually. Suggest try the same if you have one near you?

PS Tangent but how many sessions (and of how long each) did it take to get lasered? I am interested but have limited time to go sit in a salon...

Report
duriandurian · 22/02/2018 21:14

I had laser at the one of the biggest nationwide chains. They halved their treatment times half way through my pre-paid treatments (which resulted in patchiness and burns). I would say 1 hour for hairy legs all over is possible, less than that not. I had 5 treatments 10 years ago and still have some hair but so little that I don't worry about it too much, forget entirely to shave armpits, shave legs fortnightly. Could do with a top up but won't go back there. I am olive skinned with similar colour hair. It is notable that pubic and axial hair which is darker did best. My DD (aged 8) is currently v proud of leg hair but if she goes off it I would deffo offer laser when age appropriate as she is white with dark hair so will do Super well.

Thanks - sounds like I need to look up current treatment times but that sounds less time than I'd expected. Sorry for the derail!
