Second hole ear piercings - thoughts??

Applesandoranges99 · 12/02/2018 22:09

What are everyones thoughts on getting a second piercing on one or both of my ear lobes? Maybe even skip the "2nd hole" and move straight on to a higher lobe piercing on just one ear instead? I currently have standard ear piercings.

I am thinking of going to Maria Tash at Liberty in London - so the earings are delicate little diamonds or very very small diamond pavé set hoops.

I am 33 years young, no kids (TTC)... am I too past it to try and look "cool" with a curated ear?

Who cares? You do you.

I have 6 mm stretched holes in first and a second hole in lobes too.
A tragus and helix in the left ear and a daith in the right.
I'm 40 this year and will probably be having more when I can be bothered to get to my piercers.

I’ve got three in each lobe and a helix, and honestly the helix is a pain. It’s fine for months and then it flares up again, must be because I’m catching it or something whilst I’m sleeping. And reading online lots of people have issues with helix piercings long after they’ve been done.

Aww thanks PersonalClown

I mentioned it to my sister and she said it was SUCH a big decision I shouldn't go into it lightly and she questioned if I could carry it off...

I think it can look great?

I got my second ear piercings done last year and love them! They are also on my lobes. I'm 30 with 2DC if that means anything. And I'd like to go for 3rd piercing on each lobe later this year or next year. I wouldn't get any other parts of my ear pierced but that's personal preference.

I know someone who has their hand pierced - on top of their hand between their thumb and first finger. It looks really cool but i dont think I'm cool enough to pull that off Blush

Thanks ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg I have read some piercings are certainly slower to heal than others.

I am not ready for anything other than lobes - I thought a 2nd hole or higher lobe / 3rd hole was wild enough!

CocoLoco87 Amazing! Did they heal OK?

Hehe maybe give it a little more time and see if you still want it done! That's what I've been doing with my potential second piercings, I've been thinking about it on and off since last summer so I definitely think it won't be something I do without a lot of though ;)

I got my second lobe piercings at the ripe old age of 51, so if I can carry it off I'm sure you can!

I usually wear a tiny diamond stud in the top one & whatever I fancy in the lower one. I love the look.

SUCH a big decision ....either your sister has precious little to occupy her time or she is being hugely sarcastic and you never even noticed!!

Dearie me! :o :o

I have 4 holes! ...one in one, and two lobe/one rook in the other

originals were done at age 12, extra lobe piercing at 19 and the rook at 50

If you want it, then do it, and if you don't like it then take out the earring, the hole will close and no harm!

Apples this is my 3rd attempt at second piercings in my lobes (I really want this!!) and so far so good, but I do need to change the studs now from the originals but I'm scared

I have two lobes and a tragus in one ear and three lobe piercings in my other ear. Third lobe is basicallly in cartilage, so took seven months to heal.

I’m 31 and got mine 2/3rds done last year. Go for it. I love wearing the little gold studs from accessorise in them!

Got my second lobe piercings when I was 19, I am early 40s now. I went through a phase in my thirties of not using it but for the last 4-5 years I’ve had a tiny diamond stud in them. Then usually something different in my first piercings. Love mine. Fancy a helix but have read too much about them being a PITA.....so shan’t bother Grin

3 in each lobe and a helix. Going to get a daith done this week. I’m 35 and damn cool!

I have a tragus piercing & one hole on one side & 3 lobe piercings on the other. I had all the lobe piercings done before 1986. Helix piercings tend to get caught if you have long hair & take a long time to heal. The Maria Tash earrings are lovely, and her hoops come in lots of different sizes so you can have the right size for your ear.

Your sister sounds a little conservative. It's not like you're thinking about a neck tattoo.Go for it!

I've got 3 holes in one lobe and 2 in the other from the teenage years.

Haven't worn anything in them for at least 5 years, but I've just started putting earrings back in. I like it! Not sure why I'd left it for so long! Even considering a piercing up on the cartilage (sorry not sure what it's called).

I'm 41...

Don't see how a few earrings are a big decision! Enjoy!

I've got one lobe pierced on left. On right two lobe piercings and tragus.

Once your lobes are healed you can choose whether you want earrings in or not. I sometimes go years without using the second and then rediscover earring love and it's in use again.

I had my tragus done about 15 years ago with a ball closure. Had no issue with until I decided I wanted more delicate pretty rings in it which made it sore and catches. Hopefully the short bioflex stud in it now will calm it down.

Get another piercing, takes minutes and is an ongoing little pleasure.

I'm 48 and have 2 lobes, a helix and just had my nose repierced. I do it because I like it. If I didn't wear a headset at work, I'd have 2 more helix, a forward helix and a tregus done.

I have three on one side and two on the other, other than the first two I did them myself in my teens with a sewing needle and a block of ice! I love putting studs in them, it reminds me of who I really am, not the almost 50 year Mum that I look like. Do it.

It’s not a big decision. If you don’t like it you can just stop wearing the jewellery.

Don’t over think it. Just go for it.

I’d get proper titanium studs though, especially if you went for a helix piercing

AgathaF · 13/02/2018 08:33

Do it! If you don't like it you can take it out.

Oh, for god's sake, go for it! I have four lobe piercings in each ear, then in my right I have a conch and a helix, and my left has a very high conch and an industrial, not to mention the four dermals in the back of my neck.

Lobes between 7 and 20; first dermal at 22; first conch later that year, second dermal and industrial early last year at 25; helix, last two dermals and second conch at 26.

I consult precisely nobody before I take myself off to my piercer. Get something that makes you damn happy!

A curated ear Grin blimey
I have 4 holes in each ear, several of which I did myself with a pin when I was a teenager Grin I wear tiny studs in my tragus and two of the 'extra' holes. The helix piercing as with the pp above is a pain - ok for ages then randomly hurts.
I do love those fancy little earrings you can buy for extra holes and think they look lovely and not at all 90s grunge which is how mine started!
